Fellow Hawks Fans,

First off let me thank all of you for being a part of this forum as it makes being able to connect to our fan base as simple and enjoyable as possible. Being stuck in Indiana as a hawks fan can leave one feeling isolated and without comradery. I thoroughly enjoy everyone's different perspectives as the season has gone along. Everything from the glass half full to the glass half empty posts.

I wanted to take this opportunity to give my first thought out planned post. I hope I can bring some common ground thoughts that all of you can chew on and elaborate on. Well I will get started.

I find myself caught in a realistic approach to where we stand now at 8-1. This team has had massive struggles that need addressed and we all stand on this front together. We need a good balance of acknowledging this team is mentally tough as hell and winning when the cards are down. The other side we need to balance that with how the hell can we keep from getting in those bad situations like we have the last two weeks. Obviously all of it starts up front with a patch work oline that needs to get healthy and execute protection better. Others will point to a Run Defense that has been getting gashed by not so impressive rushing teams the last two weeks.

This is where I want to bring in my opinion and see what the 12s of .NET think.

Every team has been littered with struggles every year since the first pigskin was snapped all those years ago. While we are fortunate to be 8-1 and leading the NFC with some obvious flaws. This team has hit it's funk and adversity for the season. However, is it realistic to think we are not going to improve and get back on a more stable track? I think without a doubt we are going to find our way back to the level we are all used to seeing pretty damn quick.

I have seen what the national media says, and other fanbases input on "oh we are declining", we are that word everyone loves to throw around from other fanbases..."EXPOSED." Fact of the matter is we have been playing below our capabilities the last couple of weeks and every team has those moments. Colts take us down in their house and turn around and get contained and bested by a half as talented Chargers squad the following week for example. Our lovely rivals get their tails kicked up here and by the Colts at the Stick and then refound their footing.

The point I am trying to make is we are all disappointed and a little concerned about how our team hasn't been playing to a championship level that last couple of weeks. However this happens, every team has mountains to climb and ledges to scale in it's pursuit to the Lambordi. We are fortunate and mentally tough enough to continue to win through our dark spell, and I don't want to downplay that.

It's a tight division race with our rival breathing right down our neck. Ask them though and we are a loss waiting to happen. That Dec. 8th game at the stick is nothing short of a lock. New Orleans is going to come in here and crush us. It's all slated in stone. I didn't know that it has already happened. I didn't realize we don't rise above around here like we have all season. Any football fan that thinks we are done and not going to play better this season is straight delusional.

This coaching staff and roster tells us that they are going to come back swinging very soon and very hard. We got some games here in the next two weeks that are very winnable and we can get back into our groove. Then comes the two biggies with NO and SF. Anyone of those teams fans better realize that this team isn't going to lie down for them or anyone else. We will show you why the Clink is a house you don't want to play in. We will also come to your house and give you the fight of your life. This team isn't going to lay down and watch the Niners go and win the division. This team will make them bleed deep and hard for anything they accomplish over us.

Mark it down fellow fans, we will be coming back, and we will show the world why we have only lost 1 game.

I appreciate those taking the time to read my perspective. Thoughts and feedback is why I posted this.

Much Love 12s

So one thing you didn't mention (and I agree with most/all what you say) is the coaching adjustments. I am a bit miffed that historically, seemingly their best (and only) adjustments happen after halftime. If they are being outplayed in the first half, it seems they do not make the in-game adjustments. Is this a problem with Bevell's offensive philosophy? Is it the defense's certainty that their plan is solid, only to readjust at halftime? I guess it's a rich man's game - I really shouldn't be complaining much about 8-1 - but then again this team was a few bad breaks from being 14-2 last year too. So when will the coaching staff take some responsibility and push these players abilities in the first halves of games so we don't have to always play from a desperation position??

What's a Lambordi?

A Lambordi is an honest mistake...geez, cut the guy some slack.

indyhawk1984, Welcome to .net, I share your optimism. With our offensive linemen and Harvin back in the field, we will play our best football. :thirishdrinkers:

That is such a good point. This is the number one issue right now. I think we can all agree that we can't put ourselves in these positions playing the big boys down the stretch. I really think the answer to this question is a couple of variables. O-Line adjustments only work so far with a patch work O-Line. That is just the reality with the guys we got up there till we get our guns back. The second is we have been successful running our style for so long that perhaps maybe there was a hesitance to pull the trigger on a change or a different approach. The last couple of weeks have been massively humbling to our guys and I believe focus will be shifting back in a productive manner coaching and playing.
