Given the new rules, Milroe will be fine on the practice squad, where he can be called up in spot duty if needed. 🤷‍♂️

I don't think anybody carries 3 QBs on the 53 any more.

Except that practice squad players can be signed by any team as a virtual free agent. If they want to keep Milroe for the future he will be part of the 53.

I don’t know Nate. For being out there with third stringers, he looked pretty damn poised.

His passing accuracy, which appears to be the biggest ‘knock’ right now, looked good to me.

I see this kid being QB1 by ‘27..,,and being a damn good one at that.
I'm rooting for him. Just didn't see a whole lot last night. To be fair it was just a half and the flags were a flying.

We all commented on how PACKED it was last night for a preseason game!! I dare you to find ANY other preseason game this entire weekend if not preseason with another stadium even near that full. And loud!

Impressive.

Right? The second half was sloppy but we got to see a glimpse of what Milroe brings and I’m guessing 2 to 3 years down the road he’ll be our starter
True. I also see this as well.

Of course if Sam pans out like some of us hope, then all bets are off.

Fun start! The tie kinda sucked but it was entertaining, a lot of great plays and effort across the board. Especially thrilled with how we controlled the LOS on both sides, especially in the first half. A lot of good!
I get the drive to win the game from a team/player "every win is important" perspective and respect the point on pre-season score.

Rationally, I focus on how the 1's/2's played more than anything. Once the near bubble players are in, I look for the potential stand-outs/disruptors (Wright) and don't focus on score any more. These guys don't get time playing "as a unit", so mistakes are expected and games can go any which way.

Our 2's looked good against their 1's and our O was both competent and confident through the 1H. All I need.

Yeah, freaking out over late game drives in game 1 of pre is a waste of energy. Like the coaches, focus on the individual players more than the team.

It was great to force the tie by blocking the kick though

Yep and two of those flags were on two huge gainers that almost surely would have changed the complexion of Milroe's performance on the night in a mega sized way.
I can easily see justification for Jalen grabbing backup spot sooner than later.
I like Lock but he is similar to Geno in that if you bet on him to give up one or two turnovers per game that is a bet you will likely win more often than not. But I doubt if you could find odds that would make the bet worthwhile.

Reasonable assessment, to be sure. But I look at Milroe's rate of progress combined with his potential ceiling and conclude he will be ready to go in 1-2 years. I think Darnold has nearly reached his ceiling already.

I'm kinda glad the way it worked out. The special teams denied PC the win he so desperately craved in his return to Seattle. We got to see some great progress offensively,
(my opinion ) and I'm so happy they don't do OT in preseason. Too much chance for injury

It’s amazing how loud the cheap blue collar seats are. Lower class always brings it. The rich, regular season fans just suck.

Sam is a good quarterback but he’s only under contract for 3 years and the Hawks have an option after year one to opt out. Milroe was drafted to be groomed as our next franchise quarterback if and when Darnold leaves. By that time he should be polished up a little more as a passer but he can scoot now so he will be utilized in several plays. Look at Love in Green Bay and how it took them a few years to develop in Green Bay

Pardon the bump.

I was over in Greece visiting family and I just got back.

I agree with your Milroe assessment, but not your Darnold one mainly 'cause we don't really know what his actual ceiling is at this point.

People saw him crumble against the Lions and then didn't do that much better against the Rams (though I put more blame on the OL and Kevin O' Connell than anything else in that one), and they're claiming that this is his ceiling as someone who can get a team into the playoffs but not win a single game.

This after playing in his FIRST EVER Playoff game which is a hilariously bad take.

Recall how many playoff games Peyton Manning lost before he won his first....

Anyway, I think this is a HUGE..and I mean HUGE...Opportunity for Darnold here.

And I hope he takes full advantage it. :)

I get what you're saying but I'm hopeful Darnold does enough so that he can stick around a bit longer than just 3 years.

I'm guessing multiple playoff wins and maybe an NFC title game appearance or SB appearance ought to do it (though I guess I'm just being the typical Darnold Stan with my eternal optimism. lol )
