For me, the most questionable call was being in shotgun on 4th down from the half yard line. Is there any other team in the NFL who would do that?
With the QB under center, the defense in that situation is almost certainly selling out to stop the run, but by being in shotgun, you've pretty much telegraphed your intentions, making the defenses job that much easier. Our short yardage offense is abysmal as evidenced by that failed drive, even after being given multiple opportunities inside the 5 due to Jets penalties.
I've been defending Grubb, but I feel like I'm ready to join the "one and done" crowd. I don't think he's ready. His play calling is clearly more suited to the collegiate game. He's not an NFL caliber OC, at least not yet.
