RIGHT ROUND ROUND ROUND
Quit taking my line Ro!
Go to hell! I'm the one that mentioned the song first, in the main forum!
It's war I see. I wonder if it's possible to make Marvin spin faster.... hmm...

Just because you post like 100 posts a day always makes you first but who actually has time to read them all beyond your name?

I play for keeps, don't act like you don't know it.

Just start a thread saying you think the 49ers have a realistic shot of going 4-12 this year. He'll spin it like a top.

I hope SF is ready to score a ton of points on offense. The "starting" defense looks even worse than I thought it would so far, and the 49ers face several elite offenses in the first 7 weeks. Dallas, Chicago, Philly, and Denver. Arizona and KC's offenses aren't bad either. The one breather they get will be the Rams.

Not saying the 49ers can't win plenty of those games, but they will have to win via the shootout more often than not.

Starting D snaps

RDT Justin Smith: 0

NT Ian Williams: 0

LDT Ray McDonald: 0

ROLB Aldon Smith: 17 (23%)

LOLB Ahmad Brooks: 17 (23%)

ILB Patrick Willis: 0

ILB Michael Wilhoite: 35 (47%)

LCB Tramaine Brock: 0

RCB Chris Culliver: 21 (28%)

FS Eric Reid: 21 (28%)

SS Antonie Bethea: 17 (23%)

That's what happens to the 49ers defense when they purge their whole Starting Secondary.

Secondary falls below most of my concerns

1) Back up Qb
This concern is in a league of its own

2) ILB battle to temp replace Bowman
I think teamed up with Willis either Borland or Wilhoite will work but I think Borland is gonna get burned more for following his instincts instead of his assignments.

3) Boone
Looney has improved greatly vs first game against the Ravens

4) Secondary
Depth only concern

5) Aldon Smith
Just want it to be over hopefully no more than 5 games. Lemonier and Skuta filled in last year for him. Lemonier has put on about 10lbs of muscle in the offseason and I expect them both to play well again.

6) Phil Dawson
Don't pull a Akers on us please.

Sour... it is my firm belief that most teams would regress in a big way if they lost their starting QB. Any team would be hurting in that situation. I see your point though, some teams might win half their games with a backup, the Niners? Probably not. It would seem obvious that whichever QB gets cut out of Seattle has a great chance of winning a job in SF.

Boone... He's good, but the Niners don't need him to be good. Start talking about injuries to Staley and Davis on the ends and missing a guy like Boone would be huge.

Dawson will be fine.

Smith won't miss more than a few games, heck.. even 2 by the time the appeal is finished.

Sleep well Sour, but I understand you not wanting to take things for granted. It essentially comes down to depth. Which most teams are impacted by, especially good ones.

I hope the 49ers suck, but I think we're making way too much of this.

The only reason Aldon is even getting the reps he's getting is because he's going to be suspended soon.. aside from that SF is giving absolutely zero (rhymes with chucks) about the preseason.

Obviously if Kaep went down they would be in a world of hurt, but the same can be said about 90% of the NFL.

End of the day, they will still be a force to deal with.

Preseason scores are a combination of depth and coaching.

Take from that what you will.

Agreed, but the 9ers are also smack in the middle of trying to reload in order to prevent rebuilding, which is always precarious.

I don't think they'll have a Texans or Falcons style meltdown, but I can definitely see them just missing the playoffs this year on bad bounces and if the Cards or Rams get hot.

I know for some Hawks fans EVERY year is the year that the 9ers will take a tumble, but there are a couple playoff teams that do so every year, and I wouldn't be shocked if it was the 9ers turn this season. Oddly enough, as a 9ers fan I feel better about the team long-term than I do this season. I dunno. (worth saying that this has NOTHING to do with the pre-season games, which are pointless).

How does Terrelle Pryor compare to Colin Kaepernick? I'm the last person to analyze players, but to my mind TP + Harbaugh's coaching could have a lot of similarities to Kaepernick.

You're one of the good ones, Popeye, and not just because you're saying the 9ers could miss the playoffs, but because you mostly remain pretty objective and open to discussion about both of our teams without just trying to spin everything all the time.

Personally, I think it would take something catastrophic for the niners to miss the playoffs this season, but with that said I just don't think they can win the bowl with what they have.

Well speaking as one of the bad ones :D I can see the issues the Niners might have this year (no Bowman and Aldon for awhile, inexperienced secondary), and maybe it's just me being the optimist, but I think they'll be right there in the thick of it again. I like the guys they have in the secondary right now...but I do worry about depth.

I think they'll be fine. That is....assuming they have a field that doesn't need to be resodded every week.

Sheesh.

I don't see the 49ers missing the playoffs unless Keap gets injured. I am betting 10-6/11-5 is where they end up. Before Dockett's injury I could have seen a third place finish but not now. I think it's the Cardinals that fall back and the Rams just don't look good to me. Bradford is still doing his dink and dunk approach and they can't seem to run the ball at all so far.
