Starts like today are while I'm not sold on E. Ramirez. Just when you think he's about to turn the corner he'll have an outing like today. Still a great road trip going 4-2. Need the bats to start heating up again though.

Ramirez looked ok yesterday, looked VERY good against the Angels. Had a few location problems, and made a couple costly mistakes against a good team. Hard to battle a team with a really good bullpen once you get behind in the later innings, didn't have to worry about that in LA. He's really our #5 and did a solid job being asked to pitch twice on the short road trip.

I think even though it's early, you can see these guys will go after shaky pitching and crush, but a few will struggle against good pitchers with their impatience.

Will be interesting to see lineup changes going forward. I really like Almonte in the lead off. I wanna see more of Romero, give him a 3 or 4 starts this home series. I wonder if they keep Seager at 6 or if they move him down and move Ackley up. DH is a gaping hole in the lineup, and I think it could be part of Seager's early struggles.

Almonte, Miller, Cano, Smoak is solid front end. Wouldn't mind seeing a shake up with the rest. Maybe go Ackley, Seager, LoMo/Hart, Zunino, Saunders/Romero.

You know what would fix our DH problem, bringing back Morales. Just pay the man.

I'm with you, I'd much rather have Morales everyday as a DH than Morrison/Hart. Combined they're 5/31 (.161 average) with one RBI which was a solo HR for Hart.

Morales was stupid to turn down 1 yr at 14 million..He could help hitting but if he didn't want to play here so bad- maybe best he stay away..I'm sure they will get another hitter somehow..

The Mariners take it 5-3 tonight. Paxton looked real good after a shaky first inning where he let up back to back home runs but had to exit the game early, hopefully he isn't out for long. Hart finally showed up and hit two home runs and had 4 RBI's. Mariners improve to 5-2.

Why all the anxiety with Cory Hary? We are 7 games in. He's 5 for 22 with 3 HRs. I'm fine if he did that every 7 games.

He's a lifetime .270 hitter who averages around 25-30 HRs a game. roughly similar to Morales. So whats the point of Morales oon the M's then?

Morales' only contribution to the Ms would be as a right hander, which they desperately need. But for 14 million+ for a situational hitter seems steep. If his price goes down (and what hurry is he in right now?) then perhaps. But then you're probably moving on from Bloomquist or maybe LoMo

So far my takeway this season is, the Ms are better than the Angels but not as good as the As.

They will be better than the A's.

Paxton left with a "lat strain"... same diagnosis they originally game Stephen Pryor. Could be something, could be not much

I think that's a little oversimplified. The ceiling for the M's is much higher and the bats are clearly much stronger. The A's are who they willl be all year. The Angels are in trouble though. That pitching staff is dreadful, especially the bullpen.

Word is Paxton's lat strain is "minor", and he's day to day. Of course than can change, whether they're precautionary or he's actually injured himself onto the DL.

I would like to know the reasons behind this thought...Minus some horrendous strike zone calls the Mariners take two of three from the athletics.

I think the Ms are probably a pretty good team even after this admittedly SSS. If Hart, Smoak, and Ackley are going to be decent hitters and, barring injury, we have three or four of Felix/Kuma/Paxton/Ramirez/Walker/Elias work out, we're likely alright.

Plus, consider that we still have Franklin as a chip, one of those pitchers can be used as a chip, so we can still go get another right-handed bat if need be at the deadline if we're within three or four games.

We're in a bit trouble now Hamilton will be out for 8 weeks, he was on a hot streak and we have absolutely no depth below the starting lineup and such a poor farm system. The bullpen is a joke as it always is and the starting rotation are going to be very inconsistent with three of the five in their first full season as starters.
