This is one of the weirdest games I've seen in a while. Never seen a homeplate umpire perform this poorly, too. I wonder if he knows he's having a bad night?

I have no idea if he knows how bad he's doing but everybody else certainly does. He's trending on Twitter right now, and as an umpire that's never a good thing.

But but but... he can't get shown-up or challenged. That would hurt the game if the umpires were held accountable for their inconsistencies.

I watched the A's local broadcasters and they were just guessing to see if stuff would get called a strike/ball based on this ump.

Wilhelmsen and Noesi need to go now! And that ump needs to go back to calling high school games.

That was one of the most inconsistent call of a game I have ever seen. Not only did it break up Elias no hitter, it also cost us the game. :smilie=angry016.gif:

That strike zone was so poor and not even consistently poor, just all over the map....one of the worst umped games I've ever seen. We can't blame the loss on it, since the poorly called balls and strikes went both ways, but WOW. I knew the game was over when they put Noesi in, I felt like McClendon just wanted to go home and/or to show Jack that it's time to admit the Pineda trade sucked.

How did Elias look? I did not get to see the game or even listen to it. the box score looked pretty damn good for a first start, does this kid have the goods? Is he a flame thrower or more finesse? Another good lefty makes this rotation pretty damn impressive.

Umpire makes a bad call in the fifth or else Elias gets through five innings with a no-hitter. So, I thought that he did well. He could work on his control I guess but he was getting squeezed pretty hard as far as through strike zone goes.

He (Elias) has a strange throwing method. His ball comes down from up high and acrossed the plate. At least I thought so. Many of his pitches should have been strikes.

He does need alot of work. He was in trouble with alot of guys 3 and 2 seemingly all night. Look like a keeper though. zNot a bad first effort.

Somebody was saying he can throw from 5 different arm angles, sounds like he should get more polished as the year goes on. What a refreshing stroke of luck if we landed a second solid lefty

The human element! /wank

I don't know why some people insist that they keep letting these incompetent fools ruin games when we have the technology to fix it. How many years have we had the K-zone now? Just have another ump who does nothing but watch the k-zone make the balls and strikes calls. Imagine how much more relaxing baseball could be if we weren't constantly pissed off at horrible ball/strike calls.

Strike3

And just for fun lets not forget this one from last year when Morse K'd to end the game with Rivera pitching. No wonder the guy got so many saves getting calls like this one.
