2013 1st Round Draft Spot: 25th overall

Free Agents
TE Cameron Morrah UFA
PK Steven Hauschka UFA
OT Frank Omiyale UFA
C Clint Gresham RFA
DL Alan Branch UFA
DL Jason Jones UFA
DL Clinton McDonald RFA
LB LeRoy Hill UFA
CB Marcus Trufant UFA
FS Chris Maragos RFA

Positions of Need:
DT, DE, WR, RG, RT

Who should we keep? Early on I say must signings are Branch and Gresham. I wouldn't mind Jones coming back if he were cheap.. ditto Hill (depth). Hauschka has been pretty reliable, I think you bring him back and maybe have him compete against a undrafted kid.

What FA's would you like to see us pursue? Good list of the top ones..

I like our offensive line, Giacommini and Moffit Have played great for these last 8 games.
I think we should just draft 7 Defensive line.

imagine if we had one defensive linemen nearly as good as JJ.Watt.....

I think Hill and Trufant are past their prime and may be time to move on from them...

I think we need to improve run D and pass rush. To do so, probably a DE, DT, and LB.

With Baldwin, Rice, and Tate I think out top 3 receivers are pretty well set.

With our first round pick, I'll be happy with either a BIG fast WR so that we don't have to rely on Sidney's health for that position. I'd also be happy with a pass rushing DE that makes an immediate impact. However, I'd rather pick up a DE in FA that we know should get us what we need no matter what.

OF that group, I'd like to see Alan Branch come back. Other than that, if they all walked away I wouldn't really be too upset. Omiyale played pretty well in spot duty from what I remember (correct me if I'm wrong), so he may be decent depth to bring back but no biggie. Jason Jones was hurt more than not but I wouldn't be overly opposed to bringing him back.. I expect he'll get a larger payday elsewhere.

But I like Branch. He made big plays down the stretch this season.

I guess we won't need to use the franchise tag on any of those guys.

Lets welcome back Michael Bennett from Tampa. We should've never let him go. He would be one of the new beasts we need to get the pressure we sorely lacked.

Definitely have to bring back branch he made a TON of plays down the stretch especially in the playoffs. And I think hill is a much better option than smith or morgan at OLB

I'm all for Branch, Hill (depth), and Jones at a cheaper price.

defense and wr. We have got to get more pressure on the QB and we need a burner to catch the ball.

the same JJ Swatt that allowed 42 points and 425 yards of offense today ginst the Pats?

sure Swat is the man...

rather just have a line that can force the QB out of the pocket and create pass pressure so the QB has to dump the ball off quick or throw on the run..

sitting in the pocket playing dominoes wont cut it, thats why the Patriots beat the 10.5 point spread, and Watt ain't no domino player

JJ had .5 sacks and 1 tackle today, not exactly the kind of play needed from your #1 guy if you want to advance if you ask me... the Hawks and Texans proved that today, you NEED pass pressure or else...

The Texans had glaring issues at linebacker when Cushing went down. Their D completely changed. The Texans losing Cushing would be like us losing Earl Thomas.

But back to the topic at hand.

thats about it, then create more depth and this team becomes world champions, they could prolly get one with this team but you rely on some luck and maybe a lot of traveling, if the league wont do the right thing you have to win your division to have a decent chance, history proves that

my biggest question is why even have wild cards if they don't stand a chance? add 2 more and have a REAL playoff for goodness sakes

wait, I already know................................$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

From that list I feel like Hauschka, Branch, Gresham and Maragos are solid. The others I think will be competing for a home here. I just really hope guys like Okung, Carpenter, Lynch and a few others get/stay healthy in the off season. Lynch's back issue really concerns me for his future.

I think we should be very cautious about signing any high-prized FA's. We should continue to build through the draft and give the younger guys opportunities to compete. I agree though the one area that probably needs bolstering at least depth wise is the defensive line. We need a rushing interior lineman and probably another rushing DE. I'm sure one of our top 3 picks will be used to address this. We definitely shouldn't go overboard spending though. The cap space is better served to sign extensions. Sherm and ET come to mind right away.
