Ridiculous.
United fans continue to disgust me with this sort of behavior.
its funny, in a sad way, how big of babies some United fans are. One season in the last decade they've had to endure a rough patch and they cant wrap their small, fragile minds around it.
What irritates me the most (and maybe this is the manager in me) is the constant barrage Moyes is taking, when clearly the players are the most to blame. Outside of Rooney, the United squad has been shallow, uninspiring, slow, undisciplined and uncompetitive since the onset. Yes, one can attribute this to poor managing. But at some point players need to play. the game isnt so ridiculously complicated that the manager's tactics lead to the beat downs United has suffered. In truth, if it was just that, than these men would be making the 200K a week some of the players do. While a Rodgers and Martinez are getting the most from their players by being inventive and creative with the playing system and style, its also reflective of adapting to the strengths of those players and letting them be. So while everyone loves what those two managers are doing, its not without notice that players like Osman, Barkley, Henderson, Sterling, Sturridge and Lukaku are excelling because they are taking advantage as players of what their managers are allowing.
Back to United (and some of this can land with Arsenal), the players need to be held accountable as well. perhaps the set up hasnt always benefitted the side, but the quality of the players in losses that make headlines (3-0, 3-0, 6-2, 5-1, 6-0) has been horrendous. Its Moyes fault his clumsy defenders clattered into Liverpool's players inthe box not once but three times? Dear lord, he's not a mechanic. Or its Arsene's fault his defenders looked like the animal that herd leaves behind when the lions attack? Ox Chamberlains decision to throw an arm out a shot going wide was not somehow reflective of Wenger's training program. Nor was his squads inability to match early intensity at Anfield, Stamford Bridge and earlier the Etihad. (Hell, they couldnt even beat United at home).
The managers are to blame (and be commended) for many things. But i'm surprised at how easily the players slide from criticism.
