what happened to some good old I-formation power football with one of the best short yardage backs in football. I was screaming at my television after those two PA bootleg bullcrap play calls

You know, what's crazy about it, is that we used to bag on Bevell for how predictable his playcalling was, especially in the redzone. He'd get stuffed calling obvious runs up the gut with Lynch. Those play-action rollouts/naked bootlegs/other kind of trick plays are actually fairly effective. But he has been calling them recently, and failing, and now we're pissed that he's not going with the predictable standard. I really don't agree with calling it twice in a row, but there's a place for calls like that.

notice how I didn't complain about the 3rd down play call, you have to give it to lunch at least once

But, but, change of pace plays only work when they are, you know, changing the pace. You can't have them be so common they are expected before straight up running plays. I think we could start shocking the hell out of defenses by just giving Marshawn the rock for 3 straight plays. They would never expect it.

I was hoping Lynch would touch the ball once inside the five on that drive, not sure why Lynch didn't touch the ball more tonight. The O-line run blocks well, but pass blocking against a good front seven is not a something this line does well right now.

Yeah, I guess that's what I was trying to say. It 's getting to be too far the other way. Similar to taking Lynch off the field on 3rd and 1 and running empty backfield sets. I don't care how many quick passes RW completes for first downs, Lynch should be on the field to make them at least respect the possibility of a run.
