Will always be grateful for Russ having a part in, so far, two Lombardis. I think my favorite part of most of the time he was a Seahawk was knowing there was always a chance to pull out a win with 3 at QB.
Thanks for the wins, the excitement, the championships and everything else. See you in the ROH!
Am I missing something?

He helped the team win their first, right?

When did he win a 2nd? 🤷‍♂️

I can't disagree with much....but I have to mention that when I look at highlight reels, especially with his deep balls, I see a whole lot of Doug Baldwin and other receivers making amazing contested catches. Yes, he had the prettiest deep ball I've ever seen but he also had receivers who would steal them right out of the air while fighting with a DB.

That being said, in his prime there was NO other QB that I'd prefer to have with a shot at a game winning drive than Russell Wilson. He may have been crap in the first quarter, but in the 4th I'd take him over Brady or Manning or (definitely/especially) Rodgers.
I noticed that, too.

It's not like a Darnold deep pass that hits a receiver in stride (or right in the bucket).

It looks more like a Hail-Mary and prayer that a Seahawk would come down with the ball, more often than not.

Still, though...it worked for him during that time and it helped win this franchise's first championship and that's all that matters.

Super Bowl LX probably doesn’t happen without the haul from the Wilson trade. That 3rd round pick from the 2012 draft class has given more to this franchise than any pick they have ever picked since the first draft in 1976.

If people can forgive Hutch, then they should be able to forgive Russ. Just my opinion.
Hutch and his agent took advantage of an unprecedented situation, while Russ lied to fans faces about wanting to be a "Seahawk for life" while simultaneously trying to force his way out through back channels because he's Michael Scott levels of having to be liked. He also stabbed the people who took a chance on him and got him where he was in the back. Not the same thing.

Not that I care all that much about Hutch. Like Russ, he had an incredible Seahawks peak, but I don't consider either to be all-time great Seahawks.

RME3 tried getting people fired. He put himself above the team and the fans. He took the money and tried ripping this team apart. Our responses are directly related to him and the Seahawks organization. I feel like the main forum is the place to post in this instance. This is definitely Seahawk related and yes this is personal. Just my opinion, no disrespect intended to anyone here. My disrespect is directed at Russ himself.

Main forum? Sure if you want, but this is an appreciation thread as stated clearly in the OP. Take the hate to any other thread you wish. Nobody says people have to like RW3, but this is a specific subject of positivity. Make your own threads for the dislike.

I didn’t care for Russ towards the end, but he certainly was a key factor in some very good years for me as a Seahawk fan.

Having said that, @kidhawk and Russ both deserve a measure of respect here at .net, they've both earned it.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, if you have nothing positive to say here go start your own thread, or post your thoughts in one of the others.

Stay within the spirit of the OP or don’t post here.

Fair warning ?
I think so.

Russell was a special player for many years that most teams would’ve given up a ton of draft to get. I just don’t get how anyone could not be thankful for what he did for the Seahawks.

So you're crediting Wilson for us winning the SuperBowl last year based on the picks that were traded to us from the Broncos?

Ehhh...I would give faaaar more credit to JS for turning those draft picks into what they turned out to be.

From what I am gathering, Wilson wanted OUT and JS simply obliged him.

Nothing more, nothing less. 🤷‍♂️

I may not have been around during the LOB days where Russ was tossing moonballs to Lockett and company but even as someone looking from the outside, I still appreciate that he brought the first Championship here.

But that's where it ends 'cause he didn't bring any other hardware (and that's the truth).

I wish him the very best in his Post-NFL life whatever he does.

He had his moments, he had a once in a lifetime team built around him also. He has not filed his papers yet for officially retiring, so don't be surprised if he flips on it. I felt a bit nauseous watching his Thank football vid and his praise of Carrol after what he did. Need another ten years or so to at least scab up some.

He’ll always be one of my favorite Seahawk players of all time. The negative people are, well, negative. That’s their problem, and maybe they should just get over it.

He’s a first ballot HOF QB with a bright future ahead. Thank you for the great memories Russell
I can respect that he's first ballot in your heart, but he was a long shot for the Hall BEFORE they tightened up voting. He has virtually no chance now, and if he does get in, it won't be anywhere close to first ballot.

Since I know I'm going to end up getting into it anyway when people disagree with my last point, here's what Russ has working against him for the HOF, especially now that the NFL has made a conscious decision to let fewer players in:

- His volume stats are good, but not good enough to overcome everything else. He's not Top 10 in any meaningful stat right now (passing yards, TDs), and will be even further down when he's eligible in five years. Stuff like QB rating won't matter that much since the entire list is modern players (Steve Young is the only QB in the top 12 who played this century. Guys like Jimmy Garoppolo and Tua Tagovailoa are high on it. Fans like to point out how Russ' stats compare to inductees from yesteryear, but voters understand the evolution of the game, and the argument that he had a better INT percentage than Joe Namath won't hold much water.

- The accolades aren't there. He has just one All-Pro and it was second team. No MVPs, not even an MVP vote. No All-Decade. He has many Pro Bowls, which work in his favor, but those will likely become very devalued in the future now that everyone makes the Pro Bowl. I believe quite a few of the ones he does have are as an injury replacement.

- A lot of the narratives won't be friendly to him. One thing that will be discussed is how much of his one championship was him, and how much was his iconic, all-time defense that gave up just eight points to a record-setting offense in the Super Bowl. Then there's the championship-losing, if not dynasty-ending INT. Then you have the stigma from being part of one of the worst trades of all time, with the team acquiring him willing to take on the then biggest dead salary hit in history just to get rid of him, just two years later. Then there were two other teams that couldn't wait to move on from him.

I just don't see how he makes it. He might not even make it past the semifinal round.

Witherspoon, Cross, Mafe & Hall all taken with picks from that trade (plus a few others - but those are the 4 who were key contributors last season) - what a haul, if somebody offered you those 4 players for near any QB in the league you'd take it
