For the love of god, just leave Raley in. I know they don't like the lefty/lefty matchup, but it's not like he's going to do any worse than Joe's pathetic 3 pitch strikeout.

Anyone but Raley, and in that situation, and I would have understood that move.

I just dont get it.. Who cares if the managers don't like the Matchup.. if as a hitter you cannot handle that... then dont play baseball... this "gaming" going on lately just literally baffles me

Clearly they just never let him bat against lefties lol

And now he's out for the rest of the game... because they'd rather give Connor Joe an AB than let our current hottest hitter get one AB against a lefty. SMH

Yep... now THIS is what I hate about "coaching" not them hitting, but who they let hit and then leave the next 3 innings too etc. Ridiculous

As a first namer of Joe.. it would still have been cool to hear "Grand Slam JOE!" but... I knew he was either going to strike out or hit into a DP hah

Hit .340 in spring training.. but if you only get... 3 ABs every 10 games... you'll never achieve that after playing almost every game during the spring. Do we know what we are doing... at all? I know its early.. but the decision making so far is.. troubling
Never mind.. 3 ABs TOTAL.. JFC

You're never going to find out if he can hit Lefty's if you never give him a chance. Some left handed hitters can.

Fully agree... especially in a high leverage situation you use your best hitter, not game it.

Follow it up with a Wilcox sub... what has he seen from Wilcox that says yes please.. more of him

Looking foward to this post game with Dan Wilson.. I have a feeling I'm going to be really ticked off with his answer.

Its not the hitting.... in my opinion... its the strategic approach we take DURING the games....

ie: Who pitches, lineup maneuvers, Sometimes just general line ups and why lead off flip flopped there for a bit, Def the hitting subs, and being too loose with Relievers. (Once Wilcox, Once Munoz.. a few other sketchy times)

This can definately be cleaned up.. but you think you'd have a simple approach now, as most of us can see just the MASSIVE problems because they are glaring and easy to fix? You'd think?!

Hit them when they are at their hottest. Padres are on a roll right now. :(

Castillo was putting up too many 2-0 counts while Buehler was throwing 0-2 counts. Got a little better at the end in the 5th and 6th, but by then the damage was done.

Just a little offense, but still too many LOBs.

Back home for a short home stand.

I can agree with all these points..... but.. I don't care at this point.. there was a CHANCE for this game.. and Wilson blew it.. completley

Even against lefties, Raley was batting .500 ;) There's no way you sub your best hitter because he has 2 abs against lefties vs dude with 3 TOTAL ABs and no hits

A solid gapper, or even a single.. ignites this team.. its about momentum too.. and Dan is doing a terrible job trying to generate it.

The hitting is also a huge problem. There are only 3 guys on the entire team that are actually hitting (Raley, Arozarena, and Donovan). After that it looks bleak. Robles has the next highest BA at .230, but he's only had 13 AB's. Young is hitting .215, and Canzone is hitting .205. Every single other hitter on the team is hitting below .200.

They're hitting for a .209 average as a team, and the only reason it's even that high is because they just had a 4 game series against an Astros pitching staff that's a complete mess and is basically in shambles. They're also hitting for very little power with one of the lowest team slugging percentages in baseball, and they're one of the worst hitting teams with runners in scoring position.

It's been bad, man. Really bad. Fortunately, there's still 142 games to go. I still don't think this team is actually this bad, but we really need to start seeing some improvement sooner rather than later.

That pinch hit was worse than anything Servais did and Servais had many awful pinch hit moves.
Literally... one of the few times I've agreed with with you ever...

This.. That was.... Well I can't even think of a dumber move honestly

and NO mention of it post game... like.. what weak reporting

You should agree with me more i've been right 90% of the time about this franchise, and yea the reporting for the team sucks too because theres no accountability. They are shills for the team no matter what happens, "they'll get em next time" and "things just happen sometimes" and "bad luck" excuses. The whole thing is a meme, bros. It's a meme franchise.

Yep. More and more, Dan just shocks me at his decision making. Why in the world are you pinch hitting for your hottest hitter? He just had 4 hits the night before.

The announcers are so annoying. It’s like they’re not allowed to criticize the team in any way.

Angie is the worst of them all, and they don’t seem to win when she’s in the booth. I mean no disrespect toward her or female commentators, but her homerism gets old quick imo
