Was at the last two games (Fri/Sat) and some random thoughts from the upper deck:

* Couldn't agree more about playing small ball. This team can be bashed for a lot of fundamentals (I'll do that later), but it's the manager's job to set them up for success. KC played for small ball in the 10th last night and won the game. Wilson had our three players swing for the fences. If they can't bunt in that situation, put someone in who can.
* Wilson seems quite clueless on when to use pinch hitters / pinch runners. He seems to pinch hit in situations that don't need it and then we don't have people left when they are needed.
* Mentally, this team needs help. Whether it's mistakes in the outfield, baserunning gaffes, ABS challenges that shouldn't happen, whatever. This team makes way too many stupid mental mistakes that end up costing them in the long run. Fundamentally, they are not sound.
* It's not just Munoz but with a lot of closers, once a guy gets on base, they just can't handle it. There's something odd about the closer role and really losing something when a runner gets on.
* Randy Johnson ceremony was epic. That was totally great to attend and though the loss hurt, so glad my daughter and I attended the ceremony.

No sense of urgency at all with this team, I just don’t get it. And to compare our struggles with other teams having similar issues currently is ridiculous. We are not those teams, as we’ve never even been to a WS let alone won it. The reason a portion the fan base (myself included) is frustrated is that it’s literally the same year after year. We’ll make some sort of a push with 20-30 games left, and most years fall short.

Saying “it’s okay, we were 8 outs away from the WS last year,” and that now makes us an automatic contender somehow, is pie in the sky thinking. I don’t know if Dan Wilson is the problem currently, but something is.

Every. Single. Year.

Oh, and please refrain from chastising those of us that are critical of the team/ownership/players/coaching staff. I’ve been watching this team since 1977, as I’m sure many of you have also, so the amount of money and time over close to 50 years now that we’ve all spent…gives us every right to be critical.

F*ck this team. Frauds. Who the F wants to buy tickets to watch a team that purposely tries not to manufacture runs.
Phillies and Red Sox fans were boo'ng their teams and ownership made changes. Here in Seattle nothing happens just a bunch of weak push overs.

There are only 3 teams in MLB with a worse record than Philly or Boston. They didn't make changes because fans were booing. Those fans boo every time their teams don't play well for more than 5 minutes. They made changes because their owners and front offices expect better results than being one of the worst teams in baseball.

But if you feel so strongly that fans booing the team forces change, then maybe you should show up and boo the team 3 days after a 5-1 road trip.

The absolute unwillingness to play small ball especially in a pitchers park is what really rattles me noggin'. Not going to a game this summer. Id rather spend money on doomsday gear to store in a bunker somewhere.
Come on man. We're all pissed, but nobody is forcing you to watch the games or go to the games.

Then again....About to be swept by a team that came in at 12-19. Putrid

Manufacturing runs or at least attempting to do so should be a specialty, since they specialize every single year in packing the roster with guys who will play out of position or only in a platoon because they are obsessed with "Handed-ness" instead of just putting the best possible player at the correct position. Struggling once again today vs a mediocre team & starter. Two things we knew about today prior to the game, Castillo was going to give up runs & the M's weren't going to score enough to win.

JP still has his moments from time to time. Saved at least a run or 2 with that sparkling defensive play.

Yep. Sadly, this just isn't a good baseball team, at all. I'll always watch, but I'm not gonna sugar coat it. They suck.

Fu** should have gone after Kevin Cash. Look what the Rays are doing. They actually play baseball. Yes I know it's true you don't need the highest payroll. But you need to play baseball.

Sell the team. Move on from Stanton Jerry and Justin. Clean house. The Hawks proved it's what the franchise needs.

🤮 Pretty bad, eh? Reading your guys' posts, that is.

Castillo better exept his one bad inning-itis is back. Sloppy defense didn'y help anybody either.

Where are the bats? Guy throwing low nineties "heat" and we can't find them?

Rookie catcher missed several pitches that looked like they could have been challenged and won. Batters burning our challenges on calls that didn't look all that close. Oh well.

Cal with "side discomfort." Wonder what that is all about. They're being pretty cagy about all of that. While it looks like he's getting his power stroke back, his average is barely over the Mendoza line. Not gonna get his timing back on the bench.

The Mariners are losing games that they would have won in the past seasons. KC entered the series with the AL's worst record. M's got swept by them at home. This sure feels like rock bottom.

I’m losing motivation to watch this team until Dan Wilson is gone. Just a horrible manager
The problem lies higher in the chain than him. If they decide to get rid of Wilson, they will find someone that is at the same level so it's not a real upgrade. Until Dipoto is gone, nothing will change.

Rock bottom for this year for certain. My biggest concern watching this series was how out of depths Wilson was and his refusal to really shake things up and play small ball. Too many wasted pinch hitters. Too much "right lefty". Too much "by the old school" book.

Dan needs to manage the team he has; not pretend they are the team he wants.
