If this forum is going to have a QB3 thread then do the decent thing and allow @SantaClaraHawk back, (as this is her favourite ever topic). The thread would be up to 500 posts in no time.

That's my hope.
Because you know beyond a shadow of doubt that hes not any good? I learned my lesson about assumptions of players future abilities with one Richard Sherman. My first thought when he was drafted in the 5th round was well theres a camp body no one will remember past training camp. I was wrong. None of us know what Milroes future might bring. Writing him off now is a fools errand. At least let him prove it on the field before throwing him on the scrapheap of discarded QBs.

It's still her favorite football topic but NOT her all-time favorite topic,
I'll let you ponder on that one lol.

I feel like for us to get anything for him, he needs to ball out in the pre season. Based on last pre season results. No one is trading much for him.
I'm sure they'd trade Myles Garrett straight across!

I can't wait to see what the lad has learned come preseason. I'm expecting substantial progress. Now, how do I quantify "substantial"? Hmmmm.

That 4.37 didn't show up at all in the pre-season or the 3 plays
he duffed on in the regular season.
actually if you were paying attention yes he did, in his first or second pre-season game he went around the right side for 20+ and it looked like a 5 yard scamper and he looked completely calm as if he could do that for 100.

When Milroe arrived he came with an enviable long ball and super legs. His biggest weakness was the short to midrange passing attack which is a MUST for our system. He has been working hard on technique for that as documented in practice vids. He definitely is progressing and looking very good. How much and is his decision making updating too? I don't know but am looking forward to see how how is doing.

Milroe and JJ Mchandoff are NFL Cautionary tales. College game managers almost never work out in the NFL.

Wasn't that on a holding call? It doesn't count.

nope, this pretty much discounts all of your criticisms

edit - not sure why wasn't copying from 44 seconds

I'll take your word for it on the run; It does not discount all
my criticisms, he's still a bonehead and far from being a starter
on any team maybe ever.

You're right - he probably is far from being a starter on any team, but that's the same for most backup QBs in the league - even some starters shouldn't really be there.

At the end of the day he's a project QB with a grand total of ZERO pass attempts in the NFL - there's no use having a gadget QB if you only ever make him do the running part, teams can (and did) cotton on very quickly. He made a poor judgement call on his 3rd ever snap and got benched the rest of the season, so there's really not that much to go on just yet.

Sam Darnold through a pick 6 with his first ever NFL pass attempt and and yet he hust won a superbowl. If you can predict which QBs are going to be successful and which ones aren't after just a handful of NFL snaps, maybe you should go ahead and be a scout somewhere, because really, who knows what the future has in store for Milroe - I'm sure nobody thought Darnold would be where he is today (or Geno Smith before him, or Russell Wilson before him as well), so perhaps it's best if we wait and see what happens next, rather than jumping to snap opinions with nothing to go on.

This year looks like a terrible draft for QBs (with questions even about Mendoza) so pretty much everybody's going to have project QBs on their rosters.

the difference is Sam ran a pro-style offense and threw the ball a lot. Milroe was a game manager that relied heavily on his legs. Not the same.

This feels like a huge preseason for him. He's probably going to get the majority of the reps and if he hasn't made any progress from last year where he looked overrawed then there will be doubts put on him. I do wonder how much we see of Darnold and Lock preseason with the new OC trying to bed in his system.

Well exactly - so Milroe now has to learn a pro-style offense, is it any surprise that he's not day 1 starter ready? Darnold DID run a pro-style offense and it took him 7 seasons to look like he was a capable starter.

It's so bizarre to have such disappointment in a third-string project QB who didn't play his rookie season, in a year where the starter didn't miss a game, and the team won the superbowl. I mean what are you expecting from the guy?
