He's getting traded right before the draft or during the draft. No spot for him, and no need for him to compete and lose when he still has trade value.
Milroe for a 5th
Lucky for you your mother didn't throw you out with the bath water.

He's still behind Lock, I believe. Wonder if a team like Cleveland (who reportedly wanted to draft Milroe and would have if we didn't take him) would trade some picks for him?
I'm thinking Lock is a bridge till Milroe gets up to speed. If Milroe gets more comfortable and productive in the pocket he could be our next great QB or bring a load of draft picks back with a trade.

No one knows how Macdonald and the other coaches evaluate Milroe at this point. There's no way any one of us has seen enough to know. But I'm sure the coaches, who saw him every day at practice, know exactly where he stands. He could be anywhere on the spectrum, from rising star to competent backup to complete flop. If he's valuable, they'll keep him on the roster. What the Seahawks do with Milroe this offseason will give us some clues about what they're thinking. Until we see Milroe play more, we won't know where he is in his development.

Let's say Darnold & Lock are gone and you have 3 QB choices for the 2026 season, choose one.

Russell Wilson
Geno Smith
Jalen Milroe

Put up or shut up.

would love to see Geno behind a decent o-line

I don't think I've ever heard fans dumping so much on a QB3 on a rookie contract.

Milroe is still a lottery ticket. His use as a Taysom Hill was obviously disappointing, I would love it if they got him to a point where they were confident with him as a gadget player. but yah, he needs some good preseasons before he has any trade value.

isnt the hope that he never really plays as a seahawk? we all hope Darnold stays good and hes still rather young for a QB so why wouldnt he be the QB for the next 5 years or more. So if he plays well than Milroe can only play via injury which we clearly dont want. No one would keep him outside his rookie contract if he hasnt played and again the expectation and want should be that he never does. this isnt really an evaluation of any possible talent he may have but rather who hes behind and the track the seahawks are on. i think if he plays its because something very bad has happened.

Or if he plays its because something very good has happened. Lets just say that all of the eeyores regarding Jalen Milroe are wrong. Lets for a minute go under the premise that John Schneider used a 3rd round pick on a guy who has loads of talent, is a good character guy and could use some extra work before being thrown to the wolves in live NFL game action. Not every QB or even player for that matter is ready to contribute right out of the gate a la Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson et al, but might be the beneficiary of some extended non playing time like our own Sam Darnold.

Lets just say for the sake of argument that Milroe is getting valuable practice reps and time to work on his craft. He is under Seahawks control for another three years. In those years remaining on his contract, he will most likely improve his skillset as an NFL QB. Sam Darnold has 2 years left on his deal but its more like one year. If they do nothing with his contract after the 2026 season, then he is still under team control for 2027. 2027 will be Milroes 3rd season with the Seahawks.

The question then becomes, has he improved enough to take over starting responsibilities from Darnold? Because if Milroe and Darnold are even considered to have similar abilities to play QB for the Seahawks, then a Milroe resigning will be cheaper than another Darnold contract. With JS being as astute as he is at his job, I'm sure he has taken this course as a possibility. Who knows what established starting QB salaries will be in two years? Milroe could potentially get a team friendly deal like Darnold whereas at this same time frame Darnold would be seeking many millions more.

If the coaching staff saw marked improvement from Milroe this past season and continue to view his trajectory as a QB in a positive vein, then after the 2026 season, Darnold could fetch a kings ransom in trade. Not exactly apples and oranges, but this is kind of what KC did with Mahomes. He sat for one year behind Alex Smith and then took over the starting position while the Chiefs traded Smith away. Smith was well into his career by the time KC traded him to Washington. Before any of you come unglued and want to throttle me trhough your computer, I am not saying that Milroe is the next coming of Mahomes. I'm just saying that he and the team could potentially take this same course of action for the QB position.

The QB position is in the best position it has been in for years. We have a Super Bowl winning starter at QB, a viable backup and a third string guy who can just work on his craft without the pressure of starting or backing up.

Be patient with Milroe. Let him develop before ya'll want to give him away for a bag of chips after just spending a 3rd round pick on him just a year ago!

I honestly don't know enough about Milroe nor have watched him enough to have any type of opinion on him. What I do know is that Darnold is still young and the staff are pretty high on Lock and seem thrilled to have him. I guess I just wonder where that puts Milroe. Do they keep him for a long term answer (probably doubtful). I just dont know what he offers at this time.

You know its is a boring offseason when the longest thread is about a 3rd string QB. LOL
