Obviously, last year overall was a redshirt year for Milroe. I do think we see more of him in 2026 and I think this is the year the team pushes the envelope to see if he can actually be a viable quarterback in the NFL. Not saying he’s going to get any significant playing time obviously but I think he will be given more reps in practice and training camp to see what he’s got. If he is not good enough to be a QB in the NFL, maybe wide receiver or something like that based on his speed and elusiveness.

He's still behind Lock, I believe. Wonder if a team like Cleveland (who reportedly wanted to draft Milroe and would have if we didn't take him) would trade some picks for him?

I feel like for us to get anything for him, he needs to ball out in the pre season. Based on last pre season results. No one is trading much for him.

The entire point of Milroe's training is for the future. Darnold will not last forever. In the meantime Lock can produce backup that has starting experience but Milroe is in training to be THE GUY. Trading away the future you have, and are, invested in is a negative approach to our own plans for success.

I doubt he will ever be "THE GUY" but you never know for sure either way.

If he turns out to be a bust, at least we didn’t trade three firsts, in addition to a third, for him, unlike the Niners and Lance. It wasn’t a terrible gamble, IMHO.

This all day. Man, I can’t help but believe this kids future is bright. I hear nothing but positive feedback about his intelligence, work ethic, etc.

He has what cannot be taught. The things he lacks (what CAN be taught), that’s what our staff and his trainers are developing.

I might be crazy…I fully believe he’s going to be a really, really good QB.

Athleticism and development aside, obviously his performance on the field will be the ultimate metric.

Sam’s situation certainly changes the narrative a bit. Sam could be our QB for the next decade…time will tell.

While you're obviously right that Darnold won't last forever (because no one does), another 6 to 8 years is very realistic. Even another 10 years is within the realm of possibility.

I wouldn't worry about trading Milroe. I very much doubt he has much trade value, so probably not worth it for us anyway.

I felt the same way about Darnold when we signed him..so you never know.

Darnold was coming off a close to MVP caliber season when we signed him. Milroe is a late 3rd round flier that's very raw and needs a lot of development. Pretty big difference.

I think he actually has quite a bit of trade value. This year's QB crop is weak in the draft. One #1 pick and one late first round pick and that's about it. I imagine until he steps foot on the field, Milroe's value is never higher than right now. Could he be worth more later after he plays? Sure. Could he be worth less? Sure. But right now you could probably get a second for him from some of the QB needy teams. Not saying we should do it, but it is possible.

Patience .......

Jalen Milroe was viewed as a two to three year project from the get go. NFL Quarterback development requires some seasoning in most cases. And league is dynamic. Always trending.

Looking forward to upcoming OTAs. Some word on the use of virtual reality headset is of interest to me. Preseason should bring improved impressions of where he is now at in his development.

.............. the best is yet to come!

No offense man, but I think you're wildly overestimating his trade value. He wasn't a very good passing QB in college and he's shown nothing at the NFL level so far. QB needy teams aren't looking for a development project that might be ready in a year or two. They're looking for someone that's ready to play QB in the NFL next season.

he needs to show us something in preseason this year. Pretty dismal showing so far. Show me some improvement. If the NCAA was kicking your ass your chances of succeeding in the NFL are very low. See JJ McHandoff as the perfect example.

But, but, but in his THREE snaps the WHOLE season - ALL runs - he SUCKED!!! WHAT A BUST!!!

JUST LIKE THIS MORON:
1. Incompletion
2. Incompletion.
3. 4 yard reception.
Some of you would have cut Tom Brady day 1 LOL

We need a Milroe package. They did it last year and then abandoned it very quickly after he had a bad pitch that resulted in a fumble. The guy is about as eletric as it gets with the ball in his hands. Give him 3 plays a game in certain spots.
