The Chargers job was probably the best in that cycle. We were probably the best after that, although I'll bet the Commanders job had some considerable appeal with Snyder being gone and them holding the #2 pick in a great QB draft. We were in a tougher spot in that any coach would likely have to accept Geno, since there was no obvious replacement.
The only thing the chargers had over the Hawks was the Qb position. Commanders did have the #2 overall pick but was not considered a better job. I think our roster proved to be better after trading Geno and DK.

No one is selling MM short of anything. Im just stating the obvious. The hawks were arguably the best job at the time along with roster. And John Schneider had already gotten an extension, I believe so he wasn't really on the hot seat.
Agreed; however, the Chargers were the best job for Jim Harbaugh - that's the job he wanted.

I'm surprised that Kubiak is almost certainly taking the job with the Raiders. I get having self-confidence and grabbing a HC opportunity. But you're going in, arguably not quite ready, against Peyton, Harbaugh and Reid. Seems like a better idea to wait a year.

I don't care that Kubiak is going at this point...I just want the Hawks to find some way to keep Benton.

Yeah good luck. That's a Kubiak hire and he's going with him.

I don't understand the rush to be a HC after a year like this.

When do you think will get some indication of Kubiak's move or not move? I'm sure it will be leaked before official word is given.

Just trust in Macdonald IMO. He's relentless, creative, and fixes problems fast. He'll make sure the offense is taken care of next season.

If he gets a good DC, the Raiders job is actually pretty good. High profile city, new stadium, Mendoza, Jeanty and Bowers already there. Far cry from the Cardinals job.
With a horrible Oline. He's taking Benton with him if he goes.

If he leaves, I trust JS and MM to find who they want that does what they want. They learned a hard lesson with the Grubb fiasco. Hope he stays though. Continuity is a thing.

How many good options will even be available?

What sucks about the sheer number of HC vacancies this off-season is even if the remaining options suck, he's still really incentivized to take one this year if he wants to be a HC soon. Why? Next year is probably going to be relatively sparce for openings. A bunch of bad teams will keep their guy because its still his first or second year. Add another deep run in the playoffs and Kubiak is sidelined for going for the most desirable positions again too.

I would say he’s as good as gone, unfortunately
I'm going to treat everything as if he's gone after the SB.

It would suck not just to lose him but more than likely lose Benton.

HE would be the loss that would be absolutely crushing to this team 'cause of what he's able to do in developing players on the OL.
