Obviously there’s teams currently chomping at the bits for the FA to start, and a lot of their eyes set at Shaheed. Any of you think Seattle and him will get a deal done or do you think he’ll be gone after the season?

Per him he’d like to be here long term.. which I genuinely hope it works out and we retain him. I’d imagine JS has been laying the ground work in the background to keep him long term. There’s no way you make a trade mid season for a talent such as his without plans in place to retain him long term.

We're definitely going to lose some guys, especially on defence.

At least we've avoided the mistakes of 2014 though and paid the oline this time or have them on rookie deals.

Woolen, Shaheed, Jobe, Bryant, Mafe, Walker are out of contract and you need to think about a JSN extension. I still think Woolen gets big money elsewhere due to the lack of good corners out there. They might let Mafe walk and draft a younger guy but I'm unsure on the rest and whether they'll take a discount to stay or go get paid. We have decent cap space but cant pay everyone. They could add void years onto kupps deal if they want to keep him and free up cap space.

JSN and Spoon are most critical to address, possibly/probably with 5th year extensions.

Bryant and Woolen probably get paid elsewhere, potentially netting picks next year.

Mafe will also demand a bunch of $$ and can see them letting him go if they feel good about 1 or 2 PS guys.

Walkers earned an extension and may sign for less than some think. RB’s that aren’t top tier tend to get less attention due to ware and rare.

As long as he doesn't feel insulted John pays guys who are important contributors, fully expect John to say test the market and we will work something out that meets both our needs.
It'll honestly be about money at that point. How much more do you take to not attempt to go for back to backs if we win

With the Emergence of Okada... Bryant is ok to lose IMO. But he also didn't have a great year due to not being on the field enough... Like above, I feel like alot of players decisions will hinge on if we win the super bowl.. and how much core we keep in tact to make a second run?

Lets just hope winning rings is addictive for some of our core and the 3 mil+ annual could be ignored etc (Not sure how many of US would do that but... ) Another 3 years of this D? hopeful drafting (probably next year since we have diddly squat in picks) to retool and smart FA adds which seem to be a norm of late

If Kubiak gets a head coaching gig, you can kiss Shaheed goodbye. Just my gut feeling.

Its been a staple of John for years, lets see what the market thinks of you, if you want to be here I am willing to be close to that, or add years when the market says one and done.

Forgot to answer the question…

Shaheed feels like Big Cat and Jones…players JS gave up draft capital to obtain, played well, and fill a critical need on the roster. I expect a good, but not excessively pricey extension.

Shaheed will cost $12-15M. I’ve been assuming Kupp would be a cap casualty, but who knows? We have enough cap next year to resign all our FA if we just want to run it back.

Josh Jones is probably going to get paid to start somewhere though. We might have to let him go.

I'd be thrilled to have Shaheed back, but there's definitely a price point where I'd be comfortable letting him go. Elite returners typically have a very short shelf life. To me, it depends on what the coaching staff thinks of his potential to develop further as a receiver. I'm not paying a premium for him.

If I had to choose between Kupp or Shaheed next year I'd take Shaheed and I think thatsthe choice we'll have to make. Now you could argue that Horton and Shaheed and Kupp's the guy we need more.

I’m in the same boat. Thing is that Mafe had a couple of decent years prior and a is FA from the SB winner with an outstanding D. Some team looking to shore up their end position might value him on those factors and make an offer the hawks don’t want to match. Probably worth a late comp pick.
