OMG. Please.....PLEASE let Saleh be stupid and stack the box to try and stop K9/Charbs.

Darnold, JSN, and company will smoke them like they were the Washington Commanders. 😂

I saw this. I hope you are right.

I don't think the 49ers have much choice, if they don't focus on stopping our running game, we'll just do the same thing we did in week 18 and win. HOW they try to accomplish this, I am looking forward to seeing, though. Shanahan is smart and I'll be very surprised if they look basically the same against us this time. Plus, let's not downplay the importance of Trent Williams being back, particularly for CMC's effectiveness. I suspect this game will be rather different than week 18's was overall.

He did start out by agreeing that things 'lean heavily toward the home team' fwiw.

What would your game plan be if you were the opposing DC? Stopping the run sounds as good as any. That ain't sayin' it's going to work.

Not sure what Saleh can do, given the limitations of his defensive personnel. I think he will have to disguise coverages and try to fool Darnold in this game, but that's not Saleh's strength. I think that Saleh's going to have to blitz to bring more pressure, so I do think a lot of it will come down to Sam's ability to figure out what's happening and respond accordingly.

Sam will have his opportunities, if he can be smart about it. Saleh's secondary has allowed a pretty high 68% completion rate and opposing quarterbacks have a 100.5 QB rating, making the 49ers the 6th worst.

💯 They like playing nickel, I doubt they go base or drop a safety into the box. If they do, our offense will look like the first 10 weeks of the year and JSN and Shaheed will feast as well as the TE’s

What's to disagree with, though. Granted it's a bit of a damned if you do, damned if you don't, but there is no way the niners can win in a grueling, physical, grind it out kind of game. They will be worn out before the 4th quarter, then we can carve them up any way we want to.

Their biggest hope is to prevent us from beating them down physically with the run. Make Sam carry the team on his arm, and pray that 1st half of the season Sam doesn't show up.

He gave up 3 quick pressures against the Eagles and he may not be the Trent Williams of old. He still helps obviously but I don't know he's currently the difference maker people think he is especially against a team like Seattle that sends pressure from so many directions. He may be a big improvement in the running game like you said though, I haven't look at those numbers.

Darnold has 9 TDs and 9 INTs in the last 9 weeks. That's what he means. Seahawks run offense has been humming along and was key in beating the 49ers last game. It will be the focus. It doesn't mean that Sam Darnold can't beat the 49ers (he very well probably will), they just will focus on the run game to make him do it

Purdy had way more time in the pocket than the Eagles game. Williams was limited last week and is full practice this week. 49ers win rate with williams is 0.656, without it is 0.25

As great as it would be if Saleh completely sold out on stopping one thing, this feels like normal coach platitudes to me. You always want to make a team one-dimensional if you can. It's like when a coach says they want to get pressure on the QB. That doesn't mean they're sending the house every play.

Saleh is among the league's best defensive minds. I'm sure he knows what Sam does well. He'll likely have a plan that would work if his players can execute it. Hopefully, we'll be up to the task of preventing that.

I didn't watch him closely just read that he gave up 3 instant/quick pressures. Are the Niner film guys saying he played really well? That's not snarky either just genuinely curious.

Purdy has been just as bad though this year with 12 ints in 10 games right? I think the game plan for both teams will be somewhat similar with the Seahawks trying to stop CMac and the Niners trying to stopp K9/Charbonnet and forcing the QB's to beat them by not making mistakes which both have done at a high frequency this year.

Seemed like Williams was kind of hobbling in the Eagles game. Then again, 80 percent of him is better than most.

People tend to forget that 75% of Williams is still better than 100% of Pleasants.
