I was just chatting with my friends during the game and had remarked how our defense, although they bring good pass pressure, hasn't been getting home lately. In our previous 3 games, we had just two QB sacks, and none in our last game vs. the Rams. It's a big consideration as a sack usually means that you're putting your opponent behind the sticks. Complaining about a lack of them doesn't mean I'm nitpicky or that I don't think we have a good defense. It's a part of our game that has been weak lately.

Just as I was done texting my concern, we get back-to-back QB sacks at just the right time, essentially putting the game away. So it helps to bitch.

I worry Leonard and Murphy have played too many snaps and are worn down.
Ok now.

Actually addressing the observation that our sacks are down is a concern moving forward instead of insinuating that I’m not pumped to have won.

Do you think Mills can take more snaps to mitigate this ? If you are right , the bye week becomes even more important to rest those interior line cats.

Fantasy football mentality. Can't get any fantasy points for "pressures."

It's strange that some of you think we cannot chat about this topic. I'm thrilled with the win, and still find it useful and practical to talk about the details of how it worked (or didn't always) and why. None of that kind of conversation has anything to do with enjoying the win. If you don't like the topic, it's easy to avoid. (there are no prizes for padding your post-totals).

There's no question that the d-line changed its approach at the end of the Ram's game; MM said so. It increased the pressure on Stafford, even if it didn't lead to sacks. Two today against a fairly mobile QB is better than none. But we've also been forcing QBs into many more short throws (or maybe Rivers couldn't get it past 10yds anyway).

I'll be interested to see what the 49ers are able to put up against us next week.

Didn't see the game live and rewatched it tonight. Even without sack numbers before that last drive, I didn't see too many plays where Young was comfortable in the pocket. Lots of check downs when someone got close. And he some shots. I wonder if our pressure rate is still the same or if it's dropped off.

Lots of talk on turnovers headed into the playoffs (rightfully so), but am I the only one concerned about our inability to sack the QB? Four in the last four weeks. Nwosu seems to have regressed a bit and Hall disappears for long stretches. (I know he was out today)

I know we don’t have all world edges, but we can’t seem to wrap up QB’s lately. I’m not talking about Vick, Newton, and LaMar. I’m talking about Rivers, Cousins, and Stafford.

I hope we can get to Purdy a few times next week. This D is an elite edge rusher away from being ridiculous.
Only way we win is if we knock him down almost every pass. He doesn’t play well when he’s getting beat up

I doubt Mills can contribute much. I think the best bet is for some mix of Pili, Morris, or Ivey to get more reps. Also, a week of rest will certainly help JReed.
