If he sets the record, he will definitely be the NFL Offensive Player of the Year, an award that isn't quite so QB-centric.

JSN does also have a shot to win MVP if he sets the record just because there is no clear QB candidate for the award this year. The early favorites were Baker Mayfield and Daniel Jones, and they've fallen off a bit, and Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen's and Patrick Mahomes' teams aren't winning as much like they usually are. I think the QB votes get divided between Jackson, Allen, Jones, Darnold and Mahomes and JSN walks away with it.
Stanford’s 27, and counting, TDs without an interception and plus like a word.

Lol, you're right. Let's hope he starts to show his age as the season goes on and he falls off the cliff.

He had back issues in camp and somehow miraculously healed from that.

JSN being Canton-bound is all but certain*:
  • On pace for 2,000 yards.
  • Has yet to have a game over 10 catches.
  • Has yet to have a game with over 15 targets.
  • Has sat for four quarters due to blowouts.
  • Has 16.4 yards per catch average.
  • Offense has had only 302 passing attempts - second lowest in the NFL.

The previous single season receiving yardage record for the Seahawks was held by Metcalf with 1303 yards. That yardage total is the lowest record for any of the 32 NFL teams. By the end of the season Smith-Njigba might beat Johnson's #1 overall individual team record total of 1964 yards for the Lions. 1st target on the list is the Ravens, (Mark Andrews), record of 1361 yards in 31st overall. #30 are the Chiefs, (Tyreek Hill), with 1479 yards.

Smith-Njigba is a terrific player. I'm not crapping on him or the Seahawks records. Some team is going to have the highest total and some other team is going to have the 32nd highest total. There are other records where the Seahawks are highest overall. (y)

Smith-Njigba now has 1541 yards. It's not what many had hoped for after 14 games but he still has an outside shot at Johnson's 1964 yards single-season record with 3 games to play.

It’s only 142 ypg. We will need every one of them.
