Murray's contract has negative equity.I'm getting the feeling that he might be nearing the end of his days as a Card. I could be wrong. I'm trying to think of any teams that might be interested in him if this is the case, at least as a bridge QB. Saints? Dolphins? Steelers? Jets?
My partner is a Sooner, so I watched his meteoric rise in college to become the top pick in the draft. Exciting player. Pretty incredible story. Other than his height, he had a lot qualities to admire, speed, quickness, elusiveness, real arm talent, deceptively strong, able to make something happen out of nothing when plays broke down. He was a real naturally talented athlete, very good baseball player/prospect as well.
Maybe it all came too easy for him. I don't know. But he never reached the levels I thought he might in the league.

Murray is due $42.54M in 2026 and $39.83M of that amount is already fully guaranteed. Worse still he's due $36.33M in 2027 and $19.5M of that will become fully guaranteed in March - long before the 2026 season even begins. I don't think any team wants Murray at $79M for the next 2 seasons.
The bigger question is will any GM think he'll be worth $36.33M for the next 2 combined seasons? Probably, but if not then the winning move for the Cardinals will be to give him the guaranteed $39.83M and show him the door à la Broncos with Russell Wilson.
According to Spotrac he no longer has any injury guarantees. Most of his 2026 money was guaranteed for injuries at signing, but the salary and roster bonuses became fully guaranteed in March 2025. $19.5M of 2027 salary fully guarantees in March 2026 whilst the 2027 roster bonus doesn't guarantee until March 2027.What is his injury guarantee?
If he is as good as they say at baseball could he try going there or is he too old now? Just thinking about a starting SS vs backup QB salary. Although he'd need years in the minors.
