Then, if you read it, you’ll know that Shaheeds agent will be salivating come free agency with the knowledge that Seattle just gave up a fourth and fifth round pick for your player and will most likely do whatever they can so he doesn’t walk. If you renegotiate prior to the trade, you don’t have to deal with that and risk either the player leaving or the agent holding a fourth and fifth round pick potential loss over your head during negotiations.
We all get your point.
As I pointed out earlier perhaps they don't want to sign players until they see how they work out.
A 4th and 5th don't force you to sign a player to a contract if he doesnt.

You know ****-all about Football and it shows. Stick to failing negotiating propane prices in Texas
Right, I know nothing about football. I actually took a course with the NFL to be an NFL agent back in the late 80s with but decided I didn’t want go to law school. After taking that course, I continued to play in an amateur league and have the ACL tear from playing as a reminder.

Funny thing is, this is not even a football scenario that I’m trying to explain. It’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it as you are entitled to your opinion as well.

I get your points. But why not let it play out before the sky falls? That's all.

I'm kind of okay even if this ends up being just a rental. This move is about THIS year. We need another WR and we didn't give up high draft picks.

And we get to kick the tires and re-sign him if we want to.

More competition for touches playing time at WR is a good thing. We needed more at this position and we did just that today and got more

That could very well be true, but it typically is a costly way of doing business. Jerry Jones is famous for this.

Being we were down Kupp, Young, and Bobo this week, I'm really good with bringing in a starting caliber WR. White did well, but theres a reason he wasn't a regular starter. JS didnt go into this thinking its a half season rental. They needed a younger #2, and this can take that off the draft need next year. Plus, he is familiar with Kubiak's offense. I like it

Given how our GM is hitting mid-round picks out of the park as of late, I'm not thrilled giving up two of them for a guy in the last year of his deal, but it looks like a good move for a good player. I can see why the team would want Shaheed. He's the vertical threat we were hoping was going to be MVS, this is just the non dumpster-diving version of that move. I imagine he'll be our #3.

We really needed to add another WR to the mix anyway. Kupp is hurt and we don't know how much he has left in the tank anyway. Horton is WAY outperforming his draft slot, but he's still a rookie, and rookies often hit the rookie wall. Bobo is the antithesis of a vertical thread, aside from being very vertical himself. Young and White have splash plays here and there, but you can't depend on either to get open consistently.

JSN with Germaine Ifedi and J'Marcus Webb as our #2 and #3 wideouts would be better than a lot of teams. JSN with Horton/Shaheed/Kupp/Bobo/White is pretty damn good. Not so good that JSN shouldn't be wrapped in the world's thickest layer of bubble tape whenever he's not actively playing, but pretty damn good.

A perfect fit for this roster moving forward too

Allows Kupp to play situationally (if needed) as we go forward, allows Horton to develop at a decent pace

Would love to resign him, assuming he comes in and plays well down the stretch

Not a bad trade considering we probably would end up with at least a 5th round compensatory pick in 2027 if he signs elsewhere. He's a legit #2 and teams will be out to sign him if he keeps playing well the rest of the year.
We do NOT get a comp pick if he leaves. He's most likely not leaving though. Ernest Jones, Leonard Williams are just recent examples where they didn't leave.

Seems to me we basically got a DK replacement, except a bit more explosive and without the on-field volatility and baggage. I'm guessing the only downside is he perhaps doesn't block as well as DK, but guessing, if this is true, that the FO considers that to be a minor point considering what he brings to the table.

Stretch the field and give JSN even more space to work with? Dear lawd, what a terrible idea.

Lolololoolol.
We play against the 2nd most stacked boxes in the NFL as well. If teams want to continue that now then good luck with Shaheed added. If they don't stack the box the run game should open up. Should be a win-win

It's a steep price for a rental at a position we don't need. Sure, we aren't forced to re-sign him, but it looks like a foolish trade if we don't, or if he doesn't perform at a level where we'd want him back.
Why not use one of those picks to trade for an upgrade at C or RG, and the other pick to bolster the WR group?

Too much risk, not enough reward.
