If the current state of what is known remains accurate, even as a first-time offender he's probably going to jail IF the victim doesn't just accept a payout. Most of the time they do just take the money though, so that's probably what will happen here...

From what I understand, the area is covered with security cameras and there were multiple witnesses. Under those circumstances, the prosecution doesn't necessarily need a victim to file charges or even to testify at a trial, although they'll likely subpoena the victim if for nothing else to confirm that it was him and his truck shown in the security cam footage. They can file charges and bring Sanchez to court based solely on the evidence they have.

I wouldn't say it's pure speculation. It's deductive reasoning. We know for a fact that the truck driver was doing his job and was inside his truck when the fight occurred, so that pretty much indicates that the driver didn't start it. The incident happened at 12:30am on a Friday night/Saturday morning, prime time for drunks, and the evidence points to Sanchez having been intoxicated.

What else is Sanchez going to get upset about if not how the truck was parked? The only other thing I can think of is that Sanchez thought the truck driver was robbing the place or doing something illegal.

According to reports, Sanchez doesn't have any recollection of the incident, which means to me that he must have been pretty damn drunk. I assume that they took a blood sample and will run a toxicology test on both Sanchez as well as the driver.

There are all sorts of substances, both legal and illegal, that can cause psychotic episodes. They obviously will be running a toxicology test on both Sanchez and the driver, but if it's anything like WA, it could take several weeks if not a month or longer before they get the report.

I personally know people, my college roommate for one, that would get so drunk that they couldn't remember what they did the night before, at least initially. Later on, his memory would come back to him. No other drug or substance was involved, just the alcohol. So, it's possible that Sanchez was just really drunk.

Blackout drunk is a real thing. Experienced it once myself, New Year's Eve in the mid-2000s. I drank 2/3rds of a handle (1.75L) of Skyy vodka and passed out just after midnight. At least, I *THOUGHT* I passed out. I found out the next morning I kept drinking for another 1.5 hours and I have no memory of it whatsoever. I threw up like three times the next day - not counting the once I did in my sleep on my friend's couch. I was disconcerted that you can truly just keep going and have absolutely no memory of it later on, or even any memory that you MAY have continued drinking.

People need to not drink to that extent...and ANY professional football player has guaranteed reached that state in college already so they know it can happen, and most of them probably in high school, too. If he DID get blackout drunk - well, you need to know better at that age, Mr. Sanchez.
