Is this really the best they could come up with?

I feel you. Your thread made me look at a list of all the SB performers since the beginning. I'm not a guy who cares much for those big fancy spectacle shows (fancy dancers, ultra techno stuff, etc...) if they just cover up whatever soulful talent the performers actually have. The only ones that I really recall at all were Michael Jackson (he just was an amazing performer), U2, Prince, and the recent rap/hip hip one wasn't bad. I'm usually not paying much attention to it.

I love football, and this is the championship game, almost a national holiday. But it's so much the over-the-top thing that annoys me about my country. The game is the thing to me.

My wife is British and didn’t even care about football (NFL) before she met me. Now she tolerates it. Her and the two kids really only watch for commercials and the halftime show. While I watch game first then ads and usually not the halftime show but it’s always on. This year though nobody in my house will care about the halftime show which means people might be in my way while I’m getting my ducks in a row before the second half kickoff.

As a musician myself I always appreciate great musicians and talent. U2, Prince, Michael Jackson, et al, you have my attention. Even Lady Gaga and Pink are insanely talented artists. Bruno Mars? Incredible.

These filler artists like Bad Bunny? Come on now. That’s the absolute best you can do for an international audience in the hundreds of millions?

I’ll watch the commercials like I always do. I might give the halftime show a looksee simply out of curiosity before I pause and fast forward to the third quarter.
