Do you go for it in the Super Bowl? It's 10-10 with less than 2 minutes remaining in the SB and you go for it in chip-shot field goal range?
It's always about context. We were getting our arses kicked in just about every key stat category the whole game. If it wasn't for two blown FG's and two INT's, we wouldn't even be having this discussion. Yet, in spite of it all, we had a chance there to come close to putting the game away. I've already said my opinion before, but I'll say it again. To me, it was not about taking the lead there so much as it was about what gave us the best chance of winning the game at that moment, a game that we were being beaten in from almost every key statistical category. To me, we were given a chance there to dramatically tilt the game in our favor of winning if we get that first down there, to run the clock down, make them use some timeouts, get a TD, or even kick a FG with less time remaining. What does this even mean? Do you want to take the lead late in 4th or not?
You weren't running down the clock, they had plenty of time to score no matter what you did. We kicked the FG with 3.5min left.
Agree 100%. Woolen needs to go. He let us down on multiple plays yesterday, and it's not as if it were just a bad game. He's been a weak link going on 3 seasons now. Two different coaching staffs benched him mid-season for his performance. Next man up!I think all things considered, the better call would have been to go for it. I understand that call would have required quite a fair bit of courage but given the situation it would have improved our chances to win. I agree with all of the sentiments about Woolen though. Just don't want to see him wearing the Seahawks uniform again. What he was doing on the TD play, Lord only knows.
Man we have a tush push though… Mike is a rookie too. These are growing pains. When you can't game plan for a 1 yard gain, you got problems. It showed a lack of confidence.
Play that again and riq probably doesn’t blow both those playsI didn’t like the amount of time on the clock. If you convert it’s another 2 minutes off the clock or they burn their timeouts at a minimum, barring a turnover, and if you fail they’re playing for a winning FG with a shaky SP unit against our defense that was playing well.
Riq definitely screwed up twice on that last drive, which no one could plan for but I thought the risk/reward was overwhelmingly in the go for it category.
Just kept hearing.. "looks like he just misplayed the ball".There is the school of thought that says no way Woolen can possibly get embarrassed on two plays in one drive and that would be the only way it would turn out to be a bad decision.
Turns out where there’s a will, Woolen will find a way to get embarrassed on two plays in one game winning drive.
We have the personnel to get that 4th. Jalen Milroe fell forward for 2 yards on a qb dive. I am sure we are not gonna play like that again. But why did we play like that in the first place. There was once a guy nicknamed BeastMode who, in a Super Bowl, didn’t….
F it.
Spot on tho. Send the Ootz caboose and have Charb get that yard.
*Edit…resorted to making jokes. Very real sign that I’m pissed off. That game was fng ridiculous.
We have multiple ways we coulda got it…. Eagles woulda got it, but it would be boring… pshhhhCharbs could've got the yardage.
OK, I respect that. But if you're going to kick the FG, why not at least line up as if you were going for it and try to get the defense to jump offside and take the 5 yard delay of game penalty if they don't? What's the difference between a 34-yard attempt and a 39-yard attempt? The sentiment was popular in the gameday thread but I disagree wholeheartedly. You have a chance to take the lead late in the 4th quarter and you just have to take it. If we were up by 3 then I'd say go for it.
Even if it's a 70% chance of getting it, you're giving up a 95% chance of taking the lead over a 70% chance of having more of a chance to score a TD.
Don't hate that. Even seeing how the D lined up would help make a better decision.OK, I respect that. Mac didn't even hesitate, sent the FG unit in as soon as the ref showed the clenched fist. He's a gutless coward.
