Clement was #1 on the list. I thought for sure they were drafting Tulo that year. Lots of rumors pointing that way. Even he heard them from an article I read.

My niece's husband went to high school and played baseball with Clement back in Iowa. He said he was a man amongst boys. Far better than anyone on the team or who they played.

Fields also on that list. Never draft a RP in the 1st!!! And they lost the chance to draft Trout with that pick they would have gotten back for not signing Fields before the deadline. Two stupid GM's on the same mistake. One for drafting him and one for signing him.

Ackley is a mystery. I will never figure out what happened there. Much like the can't miss hitter we traded for from White Sox.

Aumont was a bust for sure.

Morrow over the local legend from UW. SMH.

Franklin and Baron from the Ackley draft. Took both because they were cheap. Baron agreed with a cheap deal with them but after drafted held them up for more money...lol.
Drafting Morrow, we passed on Clayton Kershaw, Tim Lincecum, and Max Scherzer.

8 Cy Youngs between them.

I know as much about MLB draft prospects as I do about NHL draft prospects, which is to say almost nothing.
I follow the top 5 or so. After that, no clue until I read up on them after we draft them. I am still giddy with this guy. The #1 ranked player and we should have been picking in the late teens or so.

Yeah, I'm like Yippee! We got a pitcher who was ranked by almost every site I saw as a top 5 player, and a left handed pitcher no less who looked to be on the fast track to his MLB debut after a strong collegiate performance. But that's it. LOL

NBA prospects are much easier for me to see their potential with my own eyes. Same with NFL prospects, but admittedly more so at certain positions than others. Baseball, I'm entirely trusting on the experts.

I'm with you on that. But as a Blazers fan I don't know what a prospect looks like anymore...

So the Rockies took Ethan Holliday. I’ve heard some mixed reviews on him. Do you think they took him out of respect to Matt Holliday? If that were true and he doesn’t pan out what a tough spot to be in, were they compelled to take Ethan? Imagine if Griffey had a kid in the top of the draft and he fell to Seattle and we don’t take him! Outrage
