Jeff clement
Josh fields
Dustin ackley
Phillipe aumont
Clement was #1 on the list. I thought for sure they were drafting Tulo that year. Lots of rumors pointing that way. Even he heard them from an article I read.

My niece's husband went to high school and played baseball with Clement back in Iowa. He said he was a man amongst boys. Far better than anyone on the team or who they played.

Fields also on that list. Never draft a RP in the 1st!!! And they lost the chance to draft Trout with that pick they would have gotten back for not signing Fields before the deadline. Two stupid GM's on the same mistake. One for drafting him and one for signing him.

Ackley is a mystery. I will never figure out what happened there. Much like the can't miss hitter we traded for from White Sox.

Aumont was a bust for sure.

Morrow over the local legend from UW. SMH.

Franklin and Baron from the Ackley draft. Took both because they were cheap. Baron agreed with a cheap deal with them but after drafted held them up for more money...lol.

Kinda sounds like this ain’t a great draft to be at the very top
Not sure about that. I think Top 5 or 6 are pretty darn good. I mean no Griffey Jr's maybe, but still some talented players. I just have no clue which one I want. It changes daily.

Mike Zunino was our last #3 pick.

I want a giant nasty hitter. Admittedly I don't know who that might be. Holliday?
From what I've heard on the radio, Holliday won't be there at #3. I'm no expert, so I don't know. Unless they are planning on trading some prospects this summer, it doesn't look like their picks are constrained by need much. It's not like football where you can get guys with a pretty good chance to contribure on year #1. Not many baseball players make the bigs in their first season or two. They've done pretty well lately, so we'll see.

I feel like they will have to take a pitcher cause that will be the smartest move. They can’t trade picks?

You’re right about not many players make the bigs right away, even top draft picks, which makes 18 yr old Ken Griffey Jr. making the bigs so amazing. He was such a natural. I put him in a group with babe Ruth and shohei ohtani cause no one else is like them in their greatness.

I've read we wouldn't take Holliday because he is too expensive. But to me, if he is the best, you grab him.

Yeah that’s lame. It’s funny how different sports try to control the competitiveness in different ways. Lottery, salary cap, trade restrictions, does basketball let them trade picks?
It is just baseball. From my old memory it was put in for teams like Yankees and Dodgers in the 70's trying to buy picks from bottom feeder teams. So basically it was established because billionaires couldn't manage their own teams. They didn't want them taking the money and cashing in picks.

I am so happy!!!! I thought they were going to go cheap like the first two teams did. Take the best player and just hope it works. No regrets with this.
