Lynch would have unbreakable all time NFL single season records for total yards and touchdowns if he played on the 2005 team.

Why do people badmouth Alexander the Great? He was superior to Lynch by far.
Blasphemy might get you stoned.

Shawn had great vision and could hit the hole as good as I’ve ever seen, but toughness wasn’t his deal…Lynch was concrete and steel.

Ricky had SA’s vision and moves, but was a tough SOB.

I appreciate the way Watters played throughout his career, but of the players I've met or run into briefly... I didn't like him. He probably didn't like me either, but who cares. I'm just a fan.

I tried to speak thankfully and honorably towards him (briefly as well as I'm sure he saw that I recognized him) and he sort of made fun of me to his small group of friends. I think I had one of my kids with me (young at the time.) I was embarrassed.

I could name plenty of former players who have impressed me as human beings. (Cortez Kennedy probably the favorite I was blessed to get to converse. He even mentioned our meeting/interaction in an article, "Cortez the Conqueror." Ken Griffey, Jr. was totally cool as well. Got to visit with him for quite awhile in a low key environment. One of my sons has golfed with him.) But, Ricky Watters wasn't kind. Sorry. I understand we all have our bad moments though.

Oh man I hate hearing that and feel bad for you. Yeah, we all have our days but to make fun of a fan in front of his posse is pretty damn disappointing to hear.

Reminds me of a story my former neighbor told me. His daughter's boyfriend worked as a valet for a restaurant in Bellevue. He said Cliff Avril was a giant asshole. Cliff's girlfriend went to give the guy 2 dollars as a tip and Cliff angrily snatched the couple bucks out of her hand and said "give me that" or something to that effect. This kid is not the kind of person to make a story up. He only shared it because he knew my neighbor and I were football fans.

No he was just awesome. Best in the league no drug addiction issues. Some times I think people from different generations just didn't actually experience that . Alexander was a man's man as far as great RBs. Waters had about 3 yards a carry. Not really in the same class. I did love the KC flood game. It was amazing

I appreciated SA for several years. His stock was helped considerably runnig behind Jones/Hutch. Not a knock on SA's capabilities, just a recognition that the situation was ideal for the team as a whole.

However, "Shawn Alexander was a Man's Man" doesn't compute. He was best in the league for 1 year, MVP, and had many years as a top RB. To say he was superior to Lynch by far is inaccurate at a minimum and probably closer to a gross overstatement. SA simply couldn't have executed beastquake...Lynch ran that way all the time.

IMO, toughness and sheer determination are traits that separate the greats. I don't see those in SA's game, as talented as he was. When you think Jim Brown, Walter Payton, Bo Jackson, Emmitt Smith...the list goes on. I see a tenacious effort to be great at their position and a willingness to punish defenders in their way. Does Lynch fit that mold...yep. SA...not so much.

Thanks. Embarrassing at the time... but "Water" under the bridge at this point as it was several years ago now. That's surprising about Avril as I've always heard him to be high values, high morals sort.

There was one game and only that game I can remember Shaun showing what he could have been with that attitude. Washington Redskins, in Washington, can't remember the year, but the Skins defense took a cheap shot at Hass and somehow actually pissed Shaun off in the whole scheme of thing. Shaun was Beastmode that day, unstoppable, punishing guys and I want to say close to 200 yards or so in production.

Yeah, I was shocked. He seems really nice (on camera). Some people are genuinely good people on and off camera. Sadly, a lot are not.

I remember he put out a hip hop album called something like "Eye of the Hawk" when he was here. I keep meaning to go find it and listen.

Got overshadowed when SA came here and then Beast came and took that. People forget about Warren also.
