There must be a player they like enough to use a day 3 pick on to at least try to find a QB before we have to push all our chips into the pot in 2026.
At this point John should consider carrying three Quarterbacks on the roster.

I have a strong feeling that this year one of those mid to late round picks is going to succeed. Just a hunch. It's pretty rare when it happens though. I mean here's the best of the bunch drafted 3rd round or later in a 10 year span between 2002-2022:

7-262 Brock Purdy 2022
4-135 Dak Prescott 2016
3-75 Russell Wilson 2012
7-250 Ryan Fitzpatrick 2005
3-90 Matt Schaub 2004
4-108 David Garrad 2002

During that same span in the 2nd round:

2-53 Jalen Hurts 2020
2-36 Derek Carr 2014
2-39 Geno Smith 2013
2-35 Andy Dalton 2011

So I'm really going out on a limb here with my prediction.

And of those, only Purdy, Russ, and Hurts have had any real postseason success. The other seven QBs you listed are a combined 4-13 in the playoffs, with zero conference championship game berths.

Pretty slim pickins. And that was a in 20 year span..typo.

Players are not drafted for what they did in college but what they will do it’s a guessing game of if said player can work out in our system
Sure they are. They always look at whether a QB elevates his team. If a team brings in a new QB and suddenly, they're ranked nationally where they weren't previously a lot of times its due to elevated QB play. It also shows you how they play again better teams.

Not a big fan of Dart. I liked Corral better, honestly. Of course, I know nothing of his mental makeup, so I can only go on what I've seen from a few games.

Feels like a complete project to me due to the wonky Ole Miss offense. If we're going complete project, I'd rather take a flier on Milroe like the Pats did with Milton.

How did Dart suddenly go from being a projected third or fourth round pick to possibly being off the board when we pick at 18?

Happens all the time in the offseason. Typically, once after the combine and again after FA once needs are or aren't filled. Only takes 1 team to love him and think he's the guy. Agents can put out little leaks to suggest Team A has said they will draft such and such player to get said player drafted higher by a team that reaches. Teams' boards and "Experts" boards aren't always the same either. I suspect he will be there day 2 but that can change in a hurry. This time of year, is a ton of smoke and mirrors by all parties involved.

Just remember where they had Penix ranked before combines and interviews, he was targeted as a 3rd rounder.

Yeah, Anthony Richardson is another one whose value suddenly skyrocketed. I just hope the Colts didn't ruin that kid.

Penix was an older prospect and did have a troubling injury history, so I understood why he wasn't considered a high first rounder initially, but I never believed he was falling to the third.

Richardson owes Josh Allen a big cut of his initial signing bonus. He doesn't even go in the first round if teams weren't desperate to find the next Allen.

He was the same age as BO AND 3 and a couple others. The age thing got blown way out of proportion. People acted like he was 29 when he was 23

Age was an issue with Bo too. It was a rare thing for a while, but between those two, along with Daniels and Burrow, I doubt any team will be discounting a prospect over it any time soon. At most, it could be considered a con against a player if a team is split between two guys. Sign of the times I suppose. It'll be interesting to see when those guys start to taper off physically.

Brock Purdy is basically the same age as Daniels, Penix, and Nix. Did a double take the first time I heard that.

They both def. had a lot of mileage, esp. with the extra year after covid.
My point is that I got so damn sick of people making it sound like he was 30. Often, they literally would say he's 26. No joke.
Penix is STILL only 24 years old and has a year under his belt in the NFL. BO and 3 turns 25 next week.
