I have to admit that I didn't watch the whole MM/Klint interview, just the first few minutes -

"I’ll tell you this: We talked. Every candidate had an idea how we’re going to use DK definitely at the top of their mind,” Macdonald said Tuesday, per Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune. “It’s great to hear different visions throughout the league of how guys saw him. “I think Klint has the best vision out of all those guys.”

"Furthermore, Kubiak described Metcalf's strengths in a way that makes it sound like he'll be a major piece of the offense yet again."

“A lot to work with. A lot of great skill to work with,” Kubiak said. “Down-the-field threat. Strong, physical player. Extremely excited about getting to work with him, and his physical presence. Brings a lot, can bring a lot, to our offense.”

But DK ain't goin' anywhere - and I think that's a good thing.

I'm getting more and more pumped to see Geno and DK with Klint. And a fullback. And And And!
The hawks screwed up by not trading him 3 years ago when he would have demanded two first round picks and than some.

Actually, he is. But cool
Separately whether you subscribe to the BillB 'trade 'em while they still have value 2 years early instead of 2 years late', which that comment specifically addresses -

My problem with dumping DK is simple: "Who the **** do you replace him with?".

Not that dissimilar a problem with Geno, IMO -

They're both quite serviceable, and I think deserve a good look this year in a non-stupid scheme with a non-stupid coaching staff. Been saying that for a bit.

An honestly - without surfacing the whole 'prima donna' thing - I truly think part of DK's problems have been living with no hope in a dogshit scheme. I'd hate it too.

I agree. I don't like seeing us tying up so much money in WR's at the expense of other positions like the OL, and it would have made sense to trade him earlier.

This season, the WR market is flooded, so if we did want to trade Metcalf, the law of supply and demand would dictate that we'd get less value for him. There's a story out today that the Rams might not get much for Cooper Kupp.

Yeah, ok. :ROFLMAO:
Always appreciate a good morning laugh.
I think you misspelled GENO.

One good thing about them moving on from DK is not having to hear people whine about him and make crap up, over and over again. For years now. Agree to massively disagree.

For the record, I'm half messing with you.

No sweat.

I'm not a big Geno fan, either, but Metcalf's sloppy route running isn't something I made up. He has the tendency to break off routes at a smaller angle than required, at a 45 instead of a 90, ie sloppy. That led directly to interceptions in the first SF game, returned to inside our 20 on which the Niners converted into a TD, and with a minute to go in the Vikings game when we needed a FG to tie. If it happened occasionally, it wouldn't be a big deal. But it's become a habit with him and comes at the worst possible time.

You're a good football mind, and surely you can see the same things that I've seen. Geno isn't an inaccurate thrower. His mistakes are related to his judgement and decision making. You can see where he is going with the ball and that he's expecting the receiver to be at the place he's targeting.

✌️ 🍺

DK def. drives me crazy at times. But I just think people underestimate what he brings to the table. Especially what he creates to help JSN. DK gets bracketed often. They don't just grow DK's on trees, all I'm saying. I wish he was more of a hand catcher, always have. But, he's one hell of a blocker, he flat out cares, and he had ONE, I repeat ONE Personal Foul the entire 2024 season. After that ONE call, people made it sound like he gets one every game and that he's some kind of team cancer. Not even close. And he has never cost this team a game.

Personally I was moving towards letting Geno go. Then I saw the behind the scenes tea about our offensive coordinator last year. I'm good with giving him another year.
I'm saying the same thing about most of our O-line as well. I don't buy that it's the dumpster fire of no-talents some people seem to think they are.

Metcalf is a good blocker? You could have fooled me.

PFF gave Metcalf a 56.3 run blocking grade, which isn't considered good let alone "helluva". It ranks him 47th amongst WR's who had enough snaps to qualify for a ranking. Puka Nacua, Mike Evans, Jalen Waddle, Michael Pittman are all WR's who ranked in the top 10 in that category. Metcalf didn't get enough attempts to qualify for a pass blocking grade.

And as long as we're talking about PFF rankings, overall Metcalf is the 35th ranked receiver, so they're not nearly as smitten with him as you appear to be.

Well Geez.... if you repeatedly use *facts* and 'stuff' - it's going to make the argument just that much more difficult!
