I simply responded in kind after this

All I said is I don't think he's elite or has the "IT" factor which implies he's elite. I acknowledged he's a good QB who is surrounded by elite talent. Never pretended he wasn't good nor was I trying to prop Geno up. The point was that Geno is a good QB who would look much better and could win a SB on an elite team
He hasn't even won a playoff game. First things first. He gets beat and/or plays panicked against the top teams, often. All I want is what most should want, a QB who actually beats VERY GOOD teams, esp. in the playoffs. A QB who isn't reckless with the ball, esp. in the red zone.
Is that too much to ask? I don't think so.

I guess I forgot the QB plays in a vacuum and is unaffected by his coaches and players that surround him. My bad

We'll never agree on this, and that's fine. Go Hawks.

Back on topic, defense is def. a huge part of winning a championship.

Try to remember! But seriously though, what you do know is that the QB is the biggest difference maker on the team. Just look at Tom Brady, he leaves NE and goes to TB and wins a super bowl right away. NE's 2019 record was 12-4, Brady leaves and in 2020 they go 7-9. TB on the other hand went 7-9 in 2019 and went 11-5 and won the super bowl in 2020. Sure, there were probably some other roster changes, however it is obvious what the big factor for this change was. Brady carried and elevated his team when things got hairy and clutch play was needed. That is the difference between an okay QB and a great one.

Some guys just make the right plays at the right time, some don't. Wanting to create some narrative that a guy is clutch and/or great doesn't make it so. Results. When I see them on the field, I'll believe and I'll crow up, gladly.
Wins against GREAT TEAMS. Playoff wins. THAT is results. Couldn't care less about how many stats someone puts up.

Defense absolutely wins championships, but so does solid QB play.

But your QB needs someone good to throw the ball to.
It was all Gronk I tell ya. (and to a lesser degree, Edelman)

Yes that's Tom Brady. There are a handful of QBs who take a team from a losing record to a playoff contender, most need some help around them.

Hurts isn't Tom Brady. He's surrounded by elite talent. Hell the Eagles beat Tom Brady with Nick Foles after making the playoffs with Wentz. Surround Geno with elite talent on every level and he looks way better

I hope we get to see Geno with elite talent everywhere.

Brady, Mahomes etc. Those guys get the most out of talent that's not elite. Again, you either are clutch or you are not.

If the OL takes a big step forward with Benton's coaching and Kubiak calling games that don't expose them, it might look more like elite talent considering the skill players already on offense.

I totally agree. You could feel and see the exponential improvement last year after the 5 game slide to the end of the season that they were locking in to Big Mac's system. A few more kick ass draft selections and this is truly an elite D.

Side note, am I the only one that wants to throw up in my mouth a little every time I see plays on Geno's name? (GeNO, GeYES, et al)...

🤢
Yeah I agree. To each their own but the GeNo, GeWhatever tag is cringey & getting old. Not on a Mudbone, Zoro, Hass level.
I say Geno the pizza man delivers.

So true...
I've never said anything, but that saying is so lame. It has probably Hobo Jinxed us from ever winning another Super Bowl.

That is a good point but the Bucs had all the pieces in place. But they also added Gronk, Brown and Fournette that off season and drafted Wirfs and Winfield Jr to go with Brady. Brady chose the Bucs because he didn't have to do as much work as he did the last few years in NE with a rag tag OL and a poor WR room.
