Everything coming out from insiders sounds... very much like he's going to be fired.

A lot of "we didn't do enough to support the run game, play action, Geno, etc." and all of that sounds like team sources negging the playcalling. Couple that with the reports that Grubb had to convince Mac he wouldn't be as pass heavy as he was in college...

Sounds like they're going to move on, to me.

What say you? Place your bets, it'll be fun to look back on the temperature of the fanbase in hindsight.

EDIT: Edited title to match poll question as to avoid confusion.

Maybe it’s just hopeful thinking, but he’s done. They’ve made no progress from the early season. They are running a college offense, and NFL defenses are feasting. MM has to recognize it. It’s time to move on.

22 runs to 26 passing attempts...gotta say this was probably one of the more balanced games he called all year.

My discontent is more to do with how he's using DK and Lockett, and his red zone work.

I think it's probably 50/50 whether he's here or not.

Even the most loyal man in football, Pete Carroll, fired OC's for less egregious seasons than the one Grubb just put up. Anyone saying the dude stays has got Husky-colored glasses on. Our offence has been predictable, one dimensional, poorly called for the entirety of the year.

Grubb is gone. There is absolutely nothing NFL quality about this offence. They look like they are swimming upstream every series.

I think Grubb with a good line would do some really fun stuff. With a bad line he seems limited. This year offensively hasn't been as bad as everyone thinks but it just seems to lack cohesion overall. They just moved the ball a ton against one of the top defenses in the NFL last week too.

I'm 50/50 on if he's gone but if I had to bet money I would slightly lean towards them going a different direction. This off season will be very interesting. I trust Macdonald either way. He knows football and if he thinks its a personnel issue and keeps Grubb I'm good with it. If he gets a new OC I'll be good with that too.

We're also going to have the some(hopefully not all) of the same problems next year if the one variable changed is Grubb and we're going to blame a third coordinator for those same issues.

I honestly didn't want him here when we were looking for an OC. Then I warmed up to the idea in TC and preseason. I'm trying to read between the lines of Mike's pressers and I think he will be gone, but I also don't think it's that simple. I think they have someone specific in mind who may not currently be available so Grubb may still be here if that person isn't available. I don't think they make a change off a 1st year OC unless they feel they can do better with someone with experience.

I went the reverse-hopeful thinking. I say yes hoping that I’ll be proven wrong!! And yet if he stays and improve I can say, I told you so….

…oh, wait..

If I'm John, I'm sitting down with Mike, and saying, "What would you do if you were an opposing defensive coordinator? Would this offensive coordinator make you lose any sleep?"

MM might not be an offensive guy, but he should be able to see that the game plan is holding this team back, and making Geno and the offensive line, and DK, and K9 look far worse than they really are.

I was thinking the same thing. Macdonald studies a new offense every single week. Last offseason, he had to rush to put together a staff from leftover parts. Now he has the opportunity to seek out the kind of offense he wants to best complement his defense. And even though he's struggled this year, I think Grubb has enough name recognition after UW and a year in the NFL to get a head coaching job at a low/mid-tier college or as an OC at a top-tier program.

I don't see why he should stay. It would be one thing if it looked like the offense was getting progressively better and was looking really close to hitting that next level, but if the only defense of him is "well, usually they get to keep the job a little longer" then I'd rather cut the cord. There's enough good stuff in place where I don't think we need to be THAT patient.

I don't think the OL is as much of a lost cause as many think either. Wouldn't shock me that with a new coordinator and minor personnel changes, suddenly everyone has their breakout season.

Grubb and Huff are gone and I think they go after someone with a fair amount of experience. I don't think Geno is gone as there is no successor and his deal is pretty team friendly for a starting QB. The caveat is whether JS can do something to relieve Minny of their QB quandary.

I know the Seahawks lost an OL starter and 2 quality TEs last offseason, but this offense looks weaker than last year at 10 of the 11 starting positions.

That's what I have to wonder as well. Is the OL holding the offense back or is the offense holding the OL back? It just seems like we should have enough good players to put together a league-average squad.
