This is what I have seen with Geno's performances when it comes to final drives in the game. He is excellent driving up the field...and then somewhere he throws an interception.

I thought there was going to be some evidence presented that he was doing so.
Mike refused to answer the question about how many run plays were called and hiw many were changed to passes. Coukd be protecting Geno or Grubb.

I mean, one of the major question marks with Grubb coming into Seattle was whether he would be too pass happy, because that was his tendency at Washington - that his offense was largely predicated on well designed passing concepts and was light on heavy run schemes.

Do we really need to look for conspiracies here?

There isnt a qb in this league worth his salt who wouldnt say that with the game on the line that he wants the ball in his hands.

Is Geno checking out of runs on occassion? Id assume he would be, same as he would passes to runs. But if you only call 13 running plays a game and the QB changes 4 of them based on the defense, is the QB changing the play the problem or is it that there just werent enough called ti begin with?

Grubb has a tendency even at UW to be pass-happy, so there's no mystery there.

Geno was asked at his post-game presser, should there be more balance?

His response?

I think Mac’s respond makes it obvious Geno is changing runs to passes. That doesn’t mean he’s doing anything wrong, he’s probably reading what the defense is showing. But I’m guessing the staff is now saying let’s force it a little at times to get some balance. Easy fix

I thought that too and was going to respond the same, but i dont get why he'd say 'i need to execute the plays better' as if HE is shouldering the blame for thr failures (which he has done constantly since he's been here) ... and also then says, 'you will have to talk to the coaches' (paraphrasing) when asked about the run to pass imbalance.

Those things are contrary responses when you look at how Geno does these pressers. I think if Geno was really the one to blame, he wouldnt be pushing off a run pass imbalance to his coaches to answer. He would just say... yeah, 'we called more, but given the looks, i did what was best'.

The first part of the response is shouldering blame for backwards playcalls, putting the failure on his inability to execute.

The second is, 'talk to the coaches about why the playcalls are what they are...', pushing the explanation away.

Could be that he doesnt believe in the role of the RB on the offense and just wants thr spotlight all to himself. Possible. But not likely.

I don't see this quote, "I want the ball in my hand to win the game," anywhere in the article.

Can’t run up the middle between the tackles. Walker’s occasional flash, mostly out side of the tackles is not considered a run game. Hard to run the ball when there is no confidence that they can do so and are behind the sticks every time they try. Our lack of running game falls squarely on John Schneider for he under vale’s interior lineman too much. Year after year after year the interior line sucks

Geno does audible both ways, but the audibles still don't explain the total 7/40 imbalance in this game. Even if 10 more runs were originally called, it's still a 17/30 play calling imbalance.

Grubb took ownership of this imbalance in today's presser. No need to blame Geno for the lack of run plays.

Oh for sure it doesn’t explain the massive imbalance. I think Grubb is being a good coach tho by taking 100% if the blame. My only point is, and Macdonald didn’t deny it is that some run plays are being changed. I even stated it’s not necessarily wrong because Geno is just reading the defense and that is a part of their offense to do that.

Anyway they will fix it
