Is Hawks #1 Defense a "Blue Mirage"?

No style points in the NFL. You either win or your don't. The obsession with who a team played is a little bit dramatic, to me at least.
So you're telling me a win vs. the Panthers is the same in your eyes as a win vs. the Chiefs??

I didn't say that at all. I'm saying you're spending a lot of time downplaying a 3-0 record. To each his/her own.
I just don't apologize for wins, ever.

Perfect example: Hawks beat the Pats on the road - "It's just the Pats, they suck"
Niners beat the Pats at home - "Niners are back!!!"

And YES, I get that we are talking about the Hawks defense, and not so much their record.

100% agree…if we go with the logic of this team lost to this team and beat this team blah blah blah, every Super Bowl team should be undefeated right?

There’s always inferior teams that win some games against superior teams, it’s the NFL, this happens every week.

A 3-0 record when you facing teams like Kansas City, Baltimore and San Francisco are more impressive to me than wins against the Panthers, Bears and Broncos.

So by your logic SOS means nothing? Not buying it.

Except when you look at who they played, their start wasn't all that impressive. The only quality win over the first 3 games was the Phins on the road with Tua. The other 2 games were at home against the Cardinals and the Jags and neither of those teams are any good.
You can say that about us, too. Neither the Broncos, Pats, nor Fins are part of anyone's Murderer's Row.

So basically, there's no way the Hawks are making a BCS bowl this year. Dang it.

I keep forgetting that wins have to look a certain way. And they somehow don't matter if it's against an inferior opponent.

Yes but you were about to anoint the Bills as AFC champs until yesterday. I'm saying in light of their schedule it's not that surprising they lost. They looked better than they were because of the level of competition.

They don't, but River Dog said he was thinking they were the team to beat in the AFC and I said I wasn't surprised. They've only played one good team until yesterday. Wins are wins, I understand that but that is not what we were talking about.

I thought we were talking about the Seahawks' defense, and whether they are a mirage. And I thought I pointed out that when the three teams we have defeated are playing other teams, that they look a lot better than when they play us. That when they play us we beat them so badly with our D that we make them look like crap so everyone believes that they are. When their yards/game (at least) stat is WAY better when they don't play us. And I backed it up with numbers, not opinions.

Maybe we weren't talking about that at all?

I wasn't just looking at the Bills first three games of this season. The Bills have been one of the top teams in the AFC for several years and their QB is in his prime, so when they ran off 3 straight wins to start the season, I got the feeling that this could be their year. And it still might be. All teams have an off game, and yesterday could have been an anomaly. In addition, wasn't just the fact that they lost which surprised me. It was the way they lost. They got their asses kicked.

Plus, the Ravens hadn't looked all that great. They were 1-2 coming into the game, had a bad loss at home against a team in the Raiders that aren't expected to compete, and barely beat the Cowboys last week, giving up 3 TDs in the 4th quarter. They could have very easily been 0-3.

I don't think my assumption about the Bills was unrealistic, and I'm a bit surprised that you'd challenge it by making it sound like I was simply looking at their record like I was some novice fan.

The Ravens have played better competition than the Bills and although they did stumble against the Raiders there's no shame in losing to the Chiefs on the road or pulling our a tight win against the Cowboys in Dallas.

I don’t care if people outside of Seattle fans and the team think its illegitimate.

Seattle is 3-0 and I’ll take it 10/10.

And Seattle has the opportunity to go 4-0.

Why self sabotage? Take the good currently and just go with it and let everything else it play itself out!

Go Seahawks!!!!

THIS ^^^^

Whatever happened to just enjoying wins? Stacking them up before the really tough part of the schedule rolls in.

Shoot, they are 3-0. If they ONLY go .500 the rest of the way, they are 10-7 team. And likely in the playoffs.
All while playing with a Swiss Cheese O Line and a brand-new coaching staff. Just sayin.

Exactly right. When you are at the end of the season, outside looking into the playoffs, and you realize you aren't playing in January because of some "Loss that shoulda been a Win" back in September, you remember that every game of the regular season counts (unlike the NBA or MLB). Win ugly, win pretty, win tight, or win Bigly, it doesn't matter. You play who is on your schedule, with the team you have (injuries and all) against the team they have (same). A part of me will rationalize a loss tonight away as owing to having four key defenders down & a patchwork O-Line, but I'm also expecting the team to come play hard and the coaching staff to have them prepared. There is no shame if they lose tonight, but it will be a win to savor if they come away with a victory. At least until next week, when you have to do it all over again. I believe this defense is legit, and I don't expect them to give up 400+ yards tonight, but if they do, they'll have to shake it off and be ready for the Giants on Sunday.

Absolutely. Even if they lose tonight, I don't see it as the team somehow being a mirage or the defense being a mirage.
It's ONE game against a very good team. Would most of us sign up for 3-1 before this season started? God yes.

That being said, the "I told you so" crowd will be out in force tomorrow morning if they lose :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
