And as @Maelstrom787 pointed out, Murphy's performance was good for a 55 pass-rush rating and a 26 tackling rating for the game from PFF. This is why PFF is pronounced "pfffffff!" That sound is the correct response any time anyone cites that source of completely subjective and no-more-useful-than-tables-of-random-numbers player ratings as evidence of anything other than "somebody at PFF likes this guy" or "somebody at PFF doesn't like this guy."
Can't wait to see this kid play. He's gonna' be a beast, imo. Couldn't give two sh*** about PFF. I'm good listening to former players like Bennett, Avril and Mike Rob rave about the guy.

I don't remember seeing when he lost his helmet, but he was a disrupter when in there. His grade probably suffered from when he let the QB escape his grasp that on rather obvious time. Of course, he delayed things so his teammate finished the sack, but it was rather blatant. 
IAE, he certainly looked damn good for a rook in his first "game." I have no worries about him.

Thats what I love about Murphy, he doesn't hang around and chat with OL he just blows passed them, helmet or no helmet. Dam the torpedos full speed ahead attitude.

I didn't mean to spin this thread into a Spoon versus Carter debate.
I wanted Murphy in the worst way, When the Draft SIM had the kid from Illinois as the number one tackle I was trading down and taking Murphy. I am thrilled that he is turning out to be exactly what we thought he would be and maybe more.
I am not down on Spoon. I love the kid and he was high on my radar. It's just a roster construction thing for me. I want my dominating players to be on the line of scrimmage. If I have a top five pick he better be 270 lbs or better. Dominant line play just makes everyone better

I agree with your roster construction POV. A dominant interior DL is just so disruptive to an offense, and they seem to be hard to find. I mean we were on the wrong side of that with the Rams for ten seasons. Having both Witherspoon and Murphy--plus Macdonald's defensive brain--sets the stage for a very special defense over the next several years.

Murphy II is awesome. I thought he would be gone before the Seahawks picked therefore was looking at trading down and getting T'Vondre Sweat (Murphy's teammate at Texas). Glad Murphy is here and I hope he wreaks havoc to opponents like Aaron Donald did. Off to a good start so far.
No doubt. I believe what I hear when the Hawks say they were shocked he was available.
