Sam's hand size might not be the problem

He needs to work on strengthening those (9 3/8") hands! And I mean seriously! This is not a new thing with him.

He was voted first-team All-Pac-12 by league coaches in 2017, completing 63.1 percent of his passes (303-of-480) for 4,143 yards and 26 touchdowns on the for the conference champs. His 13 interceptions and 11 fumbles during his sophomore season have scouts wondering about his ball security skills, however.
I like that Sam took a couple sacks instead of trying to get rid of the ball awkwardly like Brosmer did. I think Mike's making sure Sam works on avoiding those TO's, and changing the narrative on him.

Didn’t Dave Krieg have smaller than ideal hands too? I do remember him fumbling a lot. Of course this is old memory talking here. 😂
Mudbone once fumbled 40 times in one season. Do you understand this number... 40. Forty.

Sam's problems don't compare. But could still be an issue.

I see the problem as him having less than great pocket awareness. When he has all day to throw and time to patiently go through his reads, he is noney. But you get bodies around him or in front of him and he seems to not have a great feel for funding throwing lanes. It's like he is just comoletely oblivious to the 6'4 defender standing right in front of him with his arms raised. It's baffling. Bigger hands won't fix that.

Krieg did have small hands. Had the fumble record for a while. But he was a gamer. It's funny to listen to him now when he gets on with Wyman and Bob, dude is animated. :)
He had the fumble record, until Warren Moon took it from him, while a Seahawk. Fumbleitis is an old friend to Hawk fans. :)

Russ had big hands and he became a turnover machine during that 4-game stretch (mid LRC season), so don't think it has anything to do with hand size.

Haha, is that really true? He’s still my favorite Seahawks QB of all time. Nothing hits the same as when you’re a kid.

Joe Burrow has size 9 hands. He seems to be doing alright. Tom Brady 9 3/8.

Different causes, though. Russ in that stretch was throwing INTs, multiples per game, not dropping fumbles.

That's fair, but fumbles were a part of those turnovers that season:

So many jokes one can make based on the title of this thread. :sneaky:

(Btw, Sam has the same size hands as Tom Brady. Take that for what you will)

He took a ridiculous amount of hits. Maybe if he had smaller hands, he wouldn't have held onto it for so long.
