Geno Trade Value?

What are the criteria? Upside or maximizing wins next season? If we're talking about maximizing wins, Geno's significantly higher on that list than many will give him credit for. He's right in that Goff, Stafford, and Prescott territory.

We are not all as fans on the same page. That's why some want Geno and some don't. But, who do you want as the starting QB on the Seahawks next year - Geno or guy on the list?

I don't see many really hating him just thinking he is average. For me I want a rookie QB to take their lumps next year instead of waiting so I want Geno gone. I do not care at all about record. I also want them to fix the cap issues so I would rather that be next year too so another strike against Geno. Yes, you can argue his average starter contract is good but I'd rather use his $ to help fix the cap. Again not a knock on Geno.

Not tomention his 13 turnovers, untimely sacks/instead of getting rid of the ball. Dude is some kinda Special.
This is just a prime example of what's wrong with this world these days sooo many people on here advocating for what they can best defend as average QB play? That's not how America was great. When did soooo many people become alright with average, .500 football, because Geno has proven that is where he will take us. Gosh darn it Hawk fans we should demand/expect better, and Geno should be a backup. I personally won't be happy until J/S & M/M pull the trigger on our QBOTF! Which again I'm sorry a 33 yr old Geno isn't what a new Regime is gonna work with as their QBOTF. It already got one HOF Coach ran outta town early.

I’m not taking Geno over any of the guys listed below. I think most are obvious and some just have more upside. If Richardson didn’t get hurt he was going to have a monster year.

I don't see that hanging with Geno prevents them from drafting a project QB.

Staton had a good video on the situation. The 16th may not be as important as I originally thought. The real date is in March. He brought up a couple of good points on the compensation that I didn't think about. A lower round pick is still the most likely but depending on how much Seattle will eat of his contract could bump it up a little too. I'd still be shocked on something like a 2nd rounder but weirder things have happened.

Seawolv I wouldn't argue that the consensus has him ranked 9th though. I think he's more likely in the 12-17 range and that matches what I see out there.

I think a 2nd round pick for Geno is possible. The Steelers and the Falcons (owner) want a veteran starting QB. Geno would be the best veteran QB of the available free agent QBs or QBs that are on the trade market. JS would have to play the Steelers and Falcons off eachother. I think the Falcons, would pay up by giving us a 2nd round pick, although we would have to take on some of the Geno money to make it work. This would also be attractive to Geno as well, because of the weapons on offense he would have on his new team.

The Falcons could then use the #8 pick on WR Rome Odunze.

I don’t have a good connection atm…so, perhaps you’ve mentioned a plan or have alluded to taking a guy (impossible for me to check this entire thread).

I just don’t know if we have the picks and $$ to make such moves.

You'd be surprised what NFL execs smoke, because it's not that far fetched and there have been a few worse trades, including Sam Bradford for a first and more within the past 10 years.

A dead-armed Matt Ryan who had been worse than current Geno for 3 years running fetched a third rounder in 2022.

Don’t get me wrong…I’d take a 2nd in a heartbeat. That’s absolutely not a knock on Geno.

I know JS said he thinks this team is close talent wise. He’s thrown smokescreens before. I’m in the line of thinking that the FO believes we’re a few years out. Unless JS is sold on a guy, I don’t know who this team could get that’s on par or better than Geno for what we’re paying him. Throwing a rookie QB to the wolves, with our O-line in the state it is, sounds like a terrible idea.

Everyone is saying this is the year to grab a QB. “How” is my question. We could be looking at the 4th or 5th rated QB at 16. Predictions are hit and miss ofc…but that scenario doesn’t sound appealing…at all.

Unless we sell the future, we don’t have excess draft capital to do something crazy…perhaps thats in the form of a trade that involves a player we likely can’t afford to lose.

Maybe JS pulls some magic out of the mid to late rounds. Otherwise, we can wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which comes true.

If the goal is winning a championship next season, all else equal, I'd rather have Geno than Carr, Mayfield, Tua, Murray, Watson, and possibly Hurts. Things change if we're talking about the long-term future of a franchise. But next season, easily Geno. In fact, if I were Miami, I'd be salivating at the possibility of getting Geno at 30M rather than paying Tua.

I read the opinions. My opinion is that we aren’t getting a 2nd rounder for Geno.

Now, if I happen to be wrong, I’ll come back to this thread and put in the old ‘eat crow’ apology.

Try to get a 3rd for Geno, then package that 3rd with our first and next year's 1st to move up? Trader John surely knows how to make moves like this. It's simply a matter of commitment, and none of us knows how committed they are right now. I guess we'll know more by Friday. We also don't know what they think of the 4th and 5th rated prospects. I see many here are dismissive of that idea, but maybe John has them ranked higher. Also Roger's fell to 16th or thereabouts if I remember correctly. Lots of unknowns right now.

Identical in terms of comp% and yards/att maybe. Love threw for 500+ more yards and 12 more TDs, which seems notable. He also rushed for nearly 2x the yards and 4/1 TDs. I like Geno, but there's no way to ignore the potential factor in ranking those two ahead of next season.

So true. It boggles my mind that anyone would see Love and Smith as essentially the same. The authority with which Love leads his team is notably different. Some of the throws he makes Geno doesn't even dream of.

There's value in statistics but they can be misused. I think a lot of folks place way too much faith in them.
