LOB Reforming

I got our Seahawks going 15-2 this upcoming season. Macdonald has stated that he wants an LOB type backfield. I think we have the players in the secondary to become Macdonalds version of the LOB. Bud Clark and Julian Neal are absolute ball hawks. Witherspoon, Love, Emmanwori, Clark, Neal and Jobe

How many times have you done it where it HASN'T worked? That's a more valid data point here.

I hope we see more Okada again. That dude brings a sledgehammer when he plays. He got his shot last season and no matter the game or situation it was never too big for him.

After the season when everybody was comparing LOB with our current defense the one issue I had was that they didn't really have the same impact when it came to takeaways.

The drafting of Clark and Neal seems to directly address that issue - I am very excited

With LOB you set a standard that forever we will compare the generation playing too, I say forever because the level of play was so intense and physical along with takeaways they altered the rulebook due to it. So whatever we see on the field is going to be hard pressed to match that play. Browner and Kam type physical dominance is harder to accomplish play to play. Best we can match is the shutdown ability of Sherman and coverage area of Earl. Getting all four of their aspects on the field is what I think Mac is striving for, but maybe with less soul stealing and brutal abuse in the 5 yard release that Browner did.

Agreed. We need to reserve the L.O.B name for Sherm, Kam, Earl, and Browner/Maxwell. They deserve to keep that title among themselves, splitting it with another group diminishes it. Plus, we don't need to treat the current players like they're in the shadows of former Seahawks, they've got their own legacies to build and be remembered by.

This makes sense. From an alphabetical perspective we should be moving forward and not backward.

This was exactly my train of thought, just said a lot better. I’m not saying we should forget it or not acknowledge it, but we should stop comparing every new group of guys to them by calling them “the L.O.B. Part 2.”
