in all fairness before russ left.. for the last few yrs he kind of just did the same thing.

Yeah at least with Russ he could make a spectacular play out of nothing and did it routinely especially the first 7sh years.
I still think it’s a function of Pete. Doesn’t like the middle of the field because it’s more turnover prone, big explosive plays and the running game

Geno has been throwing picks outside the numbers lately. Teams are sitting on those routes because they don't have to worry about the middle. At this point, middle throws are the safest bet, Geno has the arm to squeeze it in there and 10 yards up the middle is a shorter throw than 10 yards towards the sideline.

Oh I agree I just don’t think Pete does. Brendan Nelson did a video on this and why Pete has historically always taught to stay away from the middle of the field. People always blamed Russ for it but he’s doing it more in Denver and now Geno isn’t doing it at all. I think @Fade is more right than wrong on what is driving the offense

That's the problem, instead of having an attacking mindset but being smart about it, the identity is based around being too afraid to take perceived risks.

Geno did it for awhile, I noticed he did it quite abit last season but this year it does feel like he was getting intercepted alot from throws down the middle of the field, and it doesn't help that DK continues to run shitty routes and drop balls, but now teams are REALLY catching on and sitting on those out routes to Lockett and DK and picking them off with ease.

I think once a mistake or two is made Pete runs in and demands to run an offense he’s comfortable with. Complete conjecture on my part but I’m not sure what else can explain it. Pete’s 70 and people at that age tend to revert to what makes them comfortable in conflict and I think he’s stubbornly doing that
