He's always had the arm. He just hasn't had the acuity at the spot. He always is good for a few throws a game where he's fooled by the coverage and doesn't account for a defender, leading to those right-to-the-defense picks.

If the ball isn't tipped, it's a long completion. Defender underneath is not in place to make a play on a ball over the top. Not sure I get the criticism of his decision making here.

He has the arm, the height, the athleticism... But he just does not have the head. It's not like he isn't smart, he just somehow can't read the game well enough.

Not perfect, but not bad for a first preseason game, having not played since last preseason, with a gameplan designed to look at specific players (not necessarily the QB), and most of the starting offense not in. I didn't see anything that's going to make me chant Drew's name, but I'm also not flushing the season down the toilet if Geno gets injured.

I'm pretty happy with both backups thus far.
