I would point out that the 49ers specifically got Javon Hargrave to get better against the run, and Hargrave is not good against the run. The Seahawks did not get Dre'mont Jones to be a run stopper, but as a pass rusher/disruptor at defensive end. So while your criticism of Jones is off the mark, it applies more to the 49ers off-season moves.
Sounds like a lot of conjecture.

I mean trading up for a place kicker in the 3rd was bizarre. Not sure how Lynch deserves a pass on that lol

Actually, you're right. I looked it up. I was under the mistaken impression that I had read somewhere that Lynch wanted to shore up the interior line against the run. But all the stories quote him saying the opposite, that they wanted to get Hargrave for his pass rush ability because he felt the pass rush disappeared for the 49ers in their last 3 games.

Hard to believe that you need to shore up the pass rush when you have Nick Bosa (18.5 sacks, 19 TFLs and 48 QB hits!!). And I wonder if it makes sense to move on from Omenihu and Ebukam if you are concerned about the pass rush. Ebukam had 5 sacks, 7 TFLs, and 13 QB hits. Omenihu had 4.5 sacks, 3 TFLs and 16 QB hits. Hargrave had 11 sacks and 16 QB hits, but played 200 more snaps than Omenihu or Ebukam.

They rarely got push up the middle in the pass rush. They imprudently let Buckner go, Kinlaw likely is a failed draft pick (Frodo? any interest?). They dropped Omenihu and Ebukam who will get juicier contracts elsewhere and replaced them with guys in similar situations (Austin Bryant and Clelin Ferrell) who may be able to provide similar production. Additionally, 2nd round pick, DE Drake Jackson (who showed promise last year but dropped off at the end of the season) has bulked up (maybe too much?) over the offseason. So yeah, question marks, but historically the 49ers have been able to get mediocre production from low cost free agent DEs.

'continue to dominate' after 7-10 and 9-9 seasons seems kinda fannish.
Glad I got you to watch it. You might turn out to be a good Seattle Seahawks fan yet. What size #12 jersey do you want?
You already hang out at .net as much as many Seattle fans . 😂

You have a point about Ebukam and Omenihu. One could argue that you don't really need anyone else on the other side when you have Nick Bosa. No other player had the same impact that Bosa had last year. Other players, like Myles Garrett, Maxx Crosby or Micah Parsons weren't really that close, production-wise. Maybe Crosby was the closest, with 12.5 sacks, 22 TFLs, and 36 QB hits, compared to Bosa's 18.5-19-48.

As much as I love the Trey Lance threads, I'm really looking forward to the "I guess Brock Purdy wasn't as good as you thought" threads in the future.

I didn't watch that drivel, those terms were in the description.

Not that factual information has ever been a factor in your posts, but they didn't trade up for a kicker. They traded up for Penn State S Ji'Ayir Brown. They took Moody with a pick they owned already.

Yes....but Hargrave is a DT. Its not an apples to apples comparison. I liked Omenihu as a third down guy, but was largely unimpressed with Ebukam. Much more of an athlete than a good player.

They have one of the best D-Line coaches in the NFL so they always try to get guys off the scrapheap and get some production from them off the edges. Kerry Hyder, Arden Key....those were those guys in the past. You can see in Hyder the diff in production as soon as he went to Seattle. This year its Bryant and Ferrell.

As another poster said tho...the one to watch is Drake Jackson. He's put on almost 20 lbs after kinda wearing out late in the season. Its why he was available in the 2nd round anyway...same issue at USC because they moved him from DE to OLB. 49ers moved him back to DE so we'll see how he plays this year. Uber athlete. I think their hopes are on him developing.

This is what the Seahawks did for years after SB48 and 49, trying to reclaim first-round busts because winning means no high draft picks. Now the 49ers are having to do the same. Good luck with that. I'm sorry to say that it rarely works out.

And as for your D-line coach, his success with the 49ers coincides with the arrival of Nick Bosa. Bosa is what helps the other players on your D-line, not Kris Kocurek.
