It's not just the salary and the injuries. I just don't like watching this dude play. How many times has he laid out one of his own players? And then last years before he got hurt he gets hit in the face with a catchable ball and puts up his fingers to say "this close". Dude, you should be embarrassed, not strutting around like you did something. I just want his Seattle days to be over.

And I absolutely loved the cigar press conference. Nope - rules don't apply to you man - smoke it up! Nope - it's all about YOU man!

Asshole. And I'm the one working - and he's got 100MM in the bank - so who's the idiot i suppose.

Every time we've traded a 1st round pick for someone, it's been a bust.
And they've gotten paid, and gotten injured.

I'll bet Jody said "No More!"

Deion Branch: $$$ 🤕 (Tim Ruskell)
Percy Harvin: $$$ 🤕 (Couldn't pay Golden Tate)
Jimmy Graham: Max Unger + $$$ 🤕
Jamal Adams: (Cut BWagz) + $$$ 🤕

Jimmy Graham has franchise records for TE receiving yards, receptions and TDs, both all time and single season for all 3.

Wagner was cut because by representing himself as an agent he screwed up any negotiations we'd be willing to enter with him (which would have happened either way)

There were a couple of problems with the Graham trade. First of all, in addition to the first-round pick, we traded away a Pro Bowl center at the top of his career with no plan to replace him.

Secondly, the problem with the player we acquired was that although Graham was an excellent receiver, he was not a good inline tight end, was a soft player, horrible at both run and pass blocking and opposite of the type of character our run first offense required. In addition, we really never utilized him to negate a weakness we had on offense at the time, ie a big red zone threat who created mismatches.

The Graham trade may not have been the worst during Pete's tenure since as you noted, he did set several franchise records. But at best, it was a net minus.

Adams is kind of an interesting dynamic on this board. For as great as he was and as much capital that the team has invested in him, this should be panic-inducing news...but it's just mostly 'meh'. It seems like if we get anything from him at this point, it's just really a bonus because he's not part of the building core/future.

Me3 asked for Jimmy Graham and for Percy Harvin. Both were mistakes with Russell Wilson wanting more weapons. There are several posters on this forum that wanted to do everything possible to keep the QB happy. He also asked for past their primes Brandon Marshall and Greg Olsen. None of them ever really worked out as planned.

It's like a bad breakup, eventually as you've come to grips with the realization that the relationship is over you no long can muster up the emotion to care.

That's how I feel about Adams. I was done caring two seasons ago. Anything now is a bonus, but not expected.

You're talking about a situation where the relationship has broken down, but the sex is still great, sometimes. In this situation, I feel that the possibility of sex does not even exist, but maybe there might be an occasional good meal.

Hmm, Jamal Adams is the bootie call of overpaid NFL safeties. Best comp I've heard in a long time.

I think we should have a day where we can only talk about football using sex and relationship metaphors.

Btw, I was saying the opposite. You think it's a bootie call, but it turns out you were catfished!

I don't want to divert the thread into a Russell Wilson subject, but I don't think Russell was involved in the acquisition of Percy Harvin. I doubt that he was even consulted ahead of the trade.

You have to remember that Russ was entering just his 2nd season with the Hawks and had yet to earn that kind of pull with our brain trust. If you want to blame someone, the Harvin trade can be blamed on our OC at the time, Darrell Bevell, who had coached him as OC with the Vikings.

I try to be optimistic about our players but this trade isn’t working out. The Seahawks own the DB record for sacks in a season thanks the JA. His heart was always there it’s the injuries that have derailed what could’ve been a stellar career. I’m not writing him off just yet it hasn’t been a year so we’ll see where he is in August

I love that Jamal's focused and working his ass off to get back, but there's nothing more tiresome than athletes who never shut up about the haters and everyone's counting them out.

Yeah dude, we're counting you out...................cause....................wait for it..................you've been out.

I guess it's good motivation? But it's lame.

I like the guy, have his jersey etc. but you're spot on. Shut your pie hole and show us on the field. That's all. The "disrespect" card is beyond old. You're an athlete, grow some effin thicker skin and get over it.
And I'm not one who thinks he's not a good player. He's damn good.

For the person trying to overcome the odds, its not lame. Hes not saying it to win points or garner sympathy from anyone. He's just putting out there what he feels. And if we are counting him out for reasons easily justified, all the more reason for him to find motivation. Thats just how it works. The slimmer the odds, the harder the fight.

its common among people who attain 'elite' levels of success - using the doubt of others as a motivator, even if its something fabricated or born from paranoia. Transcends sports, really.

Whatever he needs to get back...

I said all this. I get it.

But it is lame when you never come back. Or when you do come back, you get hurt again. So you shouldn't be angry or confused when people count you out.

There's a valid reason most people have counted Jamal out, cause he hasn't stayed healthy.

Again, I get the chip on the shoulder way these guys are wired. It's motivation. Doesn't mean I can't think it's annoying and lame.

The Graham trade would have been great but for two things that shared the same problem: he was underutilized at his strengths. Play calling for him was atrocious. And even when they did kinda figure out how to use him in the red zone, we steadfastedly refused to utilize the same concepts for 3rd and >5 yards. There’s probably a Venn diagram overlap shaped like an overinflated football with this problem and the second. Me3’s aversion to throwing to receivers who weren’t two steps open. Jimmy’s size, hands, and box out skills were his strengths. Like Moss, he didn’t need to be “open” to catch the ball. Mighty Mouse just spent so much time not throwing receivers open and then pulling magic out of his ass on the scramble drill. And then when they’d do it successfully a few times, they’d just forget it for games at a time (see also:quick slant or any other quick pass, especially on short yardage downs).

The Graham trade was a good trade, it was just fumbled by the QB and OC. A good trade costs a lot. I of course prefer larcenous trades like a 4th for Beastmode or the ME3 Bonanza, but the JG trade was a good call and absolutely should have worked.

Harvin was a bad trade for a diva player. I hate that he has one of our best SB highlights, but it isn’t as bad as Stevens having our first SB TD in history.

I’m not mad about Adams. We needed some spine in our D at the time and a big play artist. He had no injury history and hit like a truck. I chalk it up to bad luck that he’s had successive injuries but they all occurred because he put 100% of his effort on the field abd he played through even more. What’s inexcusable was not having a backup plan last year for if he got injured again now that they knew he was getting hurt a lot.
