seahawks drafting anthony richardson at #5 is like going into the grocery store to spend your last money on a couple scratch tickets, when your cupboards are bare and there's no milk in the fridge.

anthony richardson at #5 is a luxury pick we simply don't have the luxury of making.

Even if Richardson is worth the 5th pick I don't see the Hawks taking him. One of two things will happen. Either the top 3 QBs go in the first 4 picks or they don't. If they do, Will Anderson and/or Jalen Carter will be available. Taking a risk on Anthony Richardson with Anderson and/or Carter available is nuts. If Anderson and Carter both go in the top 4 then one of the top three QBs (Young, Stroud, or Levis) will be available. I don't see the Hawks taking Richardson ahead of any of them. Personally, if Anderson and Carter are gone I hope the Hawks trade back.

You can hate it, but the Seahawks are going to draft whoever is the top DE on their board. They aren’t going to spend the #5 pick on a project QB with a TD/int ratio of 17/9 and a 54% completion percentage. No %%*ing way!
That completion percentage is a huge red flag for me.

I don't believe we are desperate enough to take that risk. Richardson is not an ideal fit for our offense, and taking him at five all but assures that he will play in his first two seasons. To make that commitment, you'd have to structure the offense around his current skillset as a predominantly running QB. And that's the problem. Pete has made it very clear that he likes the current system. So any scenario where we draft a QB in the top five would likely be a guy that fits that system immediately. That would be Stroud and, to a lesser extent, Levis.

Carter might be more of a risk than Richardson with the limited production AND character concerns. Richardson is said to have great work ethic, and no maturity concerns unlike Carter.

Need to have in the great work ethic and great maturing. Along with being a character guy.

I think Carter falls out of the top 5
If the Bears don’t take him the Seahawks will. You need 4QBs in top 5 for Anderson or Carter to drop out. I haven’t seen anyone but you who believes that. I saw a draft today where Seahawks trade down to 9 and still get Wilson. Once Anderson and Carter are gone, that would make sense if JS can do it.

Remember when the Blazers passed on Kevin Durant, and Michael Jordan, because they wanted Greg Oden and Sam Bowie, college star big beefy guys who turned out to be all time busts?? I'm not saying AR is to Durant/MJ level, but he could be. He has the raw tools. He can run, he can throw, he has good pocket awareness, he has size and youth and crazy athleticism. He has all the things Mahomes has, except experience and accuracy, which will come.

If you see lightning in a bottle, and a guy who could potentially tilt the field like crazy, then sometimes you just have to pull the trigger based on future potential, not current need. Don't be the Blazers. Learn from history, don't repeat it. DL help can be had in free agency as well as the draft. Young, potential superstar qb's? Only in the draft. When you have a shot, you take the shot. This is no time for regrets. Just sayin'.

Carter and Anderson are just as much a risk as Richardson. Carter's work ethic is a question. Anderson's athletic ability and raw pass rushing skills are a question. Given the choice of 3 questionable prospects at different positions...I'll take the QB every time.

It's not often you get a chance at a top 5 QB. I'll take the risk. Give me Richardson and Bijan Robinson at #20 and we'll rush and play action to a top 10 offense year 1 with 30 million extra in cap space savings each year to spend on the defensive line for the next 4 years.

It’s a good question. It will take a few years before it can be answered with any kind of certainty. I would make the bet. Potential like that will not be available for the Seahawks any time soon.

Yeah I’m hearing some negativity about Carter’s work ethic and commitment tbh. Will he be the next Aaron Donald or the next Solomon Thomas?? Could go either way and personally would rather have Anderson or Wilson.

Agreed. Can't miss defenders at the top of the draft underwhelm or bust all the time. If you think a QB has 'top of the draft' potential, I think you have to take the chance. Of course, it's still a 50/50 proposition on it working out, but at least give yourself a chance for the good 50. It also puts you in the 5-year window of rookie QB contract so that you can continue building out your roster.

Josh Freeman lite without the booze and drugs? Cam Newton lite? Needs to be developed, but maybe that’s why Greg Olsen was brought in?
