I kind of sort of thought he was on a HOF trajectory like 3 years ago or so. But when his escapability/backyard play-making abilities started to wane, and his deficiencies as a quick thinking and processing pocket passer began to be exposed, I started to change my tune about where he ranked amongst the pantheon of QB's of his time. He just couldn't seem to evolve as a QB in the ways that he needed to to keep himself in such a discussion.

I probably rank Earl Thomas and Marshawn Lynch as more likely HOF candidates, though I'd have to think some more about that.

These are his post season numbers after we won a super bowl in which he had a couple of decent drives before it was a blowout, so most discount his impact:

193 completions on 321 attempts. Completion percentage of 60.1. 2690 yards for an average of 192 per game. 19 touchdowns for an average of 1.4 per game. 11 interceptions for an average of 0.8 per game.

Those are not hall of fame numbers. Then doing a dive into the touchdowns you realize that six of those touchdowns were when we were already down three or more scores and it was against prevent defenses, mostly due to his poor play early. You realize that maybe he wasn't nearly as good as some like to portray.

Maybe, but certainly not on an early ballot.

At this point in time, I'd say no, he doesn't make it.

Yes and he's going to bounce back and be fine. He probably won't be in the conversation for best QB in the league like he was in Seattle at times but he will be very good again.
Your pal Russell Wilson could never again be successful if he played for the current 49er. There is nothing left of him but his ego. He needs to retire and become a politician, he has all of the requirements, a nice smile, a gift of gab, and always willing to stab anyone necessary in the back if it benefits him..

9 ProBowls.
Super Bowl winner.
NFL man of the year.

He's going in and he won't have to wait long.

Russell's not even in the top 15-20 in most statistical categories, behind guys like Flacco, Pennington and Kerry Collins.

So while he's obviously had some success, the question is "if he retired now." So there's no way you can be sure of a HOF induction.

And I'd counter all of your accolades you listed here with the fact that the HOF is voted on by a very small group of sports writers and media members who I'd imagine are extremely tired of Wilson's nonsense right now, and would probably hold some of this against him if they had to vote now.

IMO at this point at BEST it's 50/50.

It’s all about the stats as long as his yards and TDS go up he has a chance. It’s the same as nba for Russell Westbrook as well since most of the people thinks he’s HOF with the triple doubles

Not to mention
#10 all time in GWD
#13 in TDs
#2 Passer rating
#3 Rushing yards by QB of all time
Almost tied Manning w/ the most wins in the first 10 seasons.

Wilson is only in his 11th seasons. Majority had at least 17 years in the league.

I’d be very curious to see how many people that voted no, would’ve voted yes IF they won the Super Bowl against the Pats?

Another SB win would definitely help Russ's case, especially if he completed the game winning TD pass.

I know a LOT of Hawk fans are still salty about how Russ left, but it's really in all our best interest for him to do well in Denver, get into the Hall and come back often to be celebrated in Seattle for what he is..........the greatest QB in Hawk history who was a big part of us winning our first SB.

Now that the draft pick incentive is out of the way, we should all wish good things for Russ. If for nothing else to selfishly pad him as a Hawk Hall of Famer and future Ring of Honor member.

He has NOT met the threshold yet IMHO.
If he turns it around in Denver & plays like a top 10 QB once again & wins some playoff games over a couple, 3 seasons then maybe so. It's not even about the Let's Ride, Dangerwich, ego thing at this point, its about whether he is one of the GREATEST QB's to EVER play the game? I say he is not and was lucky to have Lynch, Carroll & the LOB. I think the greatest Seahawk QB ever has not been drafted yet and if RW3 had been originally drafted by so many other teams, he likely would have been above average, probably never sniffed a SB and definitely never received a huge contract like the Bronco's shoveled at him. I do not hate RW, I just don't think he belongs in the HOF at this point in his career.

He won't make it to 17 years..The others didn't rely so much on running off script

I might have to renew my hate for another year now.
