Start Drew Lock for remainder?

I have no problem putting Lock in when Geno is injured. That is the only scenario where starting Lock instead of Geno makes any sense.

Head Coach Pete Carroll awarded Geno Smith the starting quarterback job at the beginning of the season because his assessment told him Smith gave the Seahawks the best chance to win. Smith hasn't really done anything to disabuse him of that conclusion over the course of the season. Smith will stay the starting quarterback for the remainder of the 2022 season, particularly so with the playoffs still theoretically within grasp. It's the right thing to do. Smith hasn't done anything wrong to deserve being benched.

They aint making the playoffs. Geno has lost what 5 of last 6 games? If Geno is hurt, even just from a pure business standpoint, we should protect him as a commodity. And we absolutely do need to see where Lock is at, and we have a decent excuse to protect Geno's ego, he's hurt.

Changing QBs now is "tanking." The losses lately haven't really been on Geno. Between the D and the O-line, there have been plenty of reasons we've been losing. Hell, how many times did we have negative yards on 1st down today? 5? 6? More. You win 3rd down percentage on 1st and 2d down. Constantly trying to convert on 3rd and forever will screw up any QB's stats.

So I disagree. Start Geno for at least as long as we're viable in the playoff hunt.

Actually, by starting Lock that may give them some leverage when trying to resign Geno. Again, Geno is a serviceable quarterback, but he’s not a carrier the team type of player. I liken him to Fitzpatrick.

Kenneth Walker III got in rhythm with the offensive line in today's game. Finishing the season with a strong running game in support of play action is something worth building on with Geno. It will facilitate a beneficial finish to the season.

It's easy for us fans to say declarative statements like "they ain't making the playoffs" but the fact of the matter is that they are literally battling to get into the postseason against the likes of the Lions and Commanders, not exactly world-beaters in their own regard.

Giving up for considerations like "I wanna see what the backup quarterback has" is an insane level of white-flagging that borders on pure cowardice if they were to truly do so. No one will respect or appreciate it - including Lock, who'd be thrown in seemingly at random much to the dismay of his teammates. It's just needless.
