Are there any top 5 pick LB’s in the draft? They should also look for FA’s. And def bring in enough talent to maybe replace brooks. But it’s also the DL fault. They don’t seem to hold gaps at all.

If we stay at 2 and 10ish, I could easily see Pete taking Carter and Simpson with the first 2 picks, then Verse and Ika with the 2nd's. I'd be extremely happy with that, if they couldn't get a King's ransom for the 2nd overall pick.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Hawks draft a LB that isn’t talked about like when they drafted Wagner who turned out pretty good.

In addition to drafting a DT I expect at least one from FA

The good news is that good linebackers can develop quickly in the NFL. We need to draft some killers on defense. It’s pathetic.

There is no such thing as a top 5 LB IMO. All high picks should be spent on 3 positions: OL, DL and QB. Save the LB picks for second round.

If the hawks are at two, there is no way that Houston risks not getting the QB at one that they want. Seattle could legitimately go either way.
I think the odds of us trading down are many times greater than Pete and John drafting a QB in the (1 or) 2 spot. With so many holes to fill, they might still trade down even if they have a shot at Carter. I'd love Carter but he's one guy and players do get hurt. With that, the question in our war room could become ...do we want two fantastic players or one fabulous player? If they handle their business, the latter wouldn't upset me.

I think Anderson goes before Carter so Seattle has a shot at Carter. Wislon looked much better this past week so they could finish the year somewhat hot and we miss out on Carter and a franchise QB.

And DT
And Edge
And safety
And another CB

Unless there's a bonafide monster at center, EVERY pick next year should be used on the defense.

There're a lot of good free agents that can help fill the front 7.

The draft isn't the only option, ya know.

Very hard to build a great defense through free agency.

Yes you can trade for a difference maker, but NFL defensive free agents are NFL free agents for a reason, and that reason is their current team no longer thought they were worth extending for another contract because of age, injuries, etc.

If we've learned anything over the past 5-6 years, defensive dogs that stay healthy need to be drafted.

Guards and centers, that's who we can sign as free agents. Draft should be hyper focused on defense.

They literally signed Nwosu last year, and drafted Collier, Brooks, Taylor and Mafe with high picks recently.

I said I know. My point is the defense should still be the major focal point of the draft and not free agency.

The thread title reads "we need" to draft high pick Linebackers. No, we don't.

We don't have a field general like Wagner on defense. Brooks is not a cerebral player here like Wagner was -- to be fair it's also his first year at MLB. None of our LB's seem to be capable of shedding blocks and attacking gaps.
We were a shitty defense for years when we still had Wags.
