The corners haven't been the problem, and Woolen is a legit ROTY candidate. And I never said lights out, I said half decent as opposed to hot garbage. The problem has been mostly the front 7. Poor angles, poor gap discipline, poor communication, poor tackling(which looked better last week) not disengaging from blocks, not setting the edge, getting fooled easily on misdirection, no pressure on the QB, bad linebacker play and no depth in a 34. They have no answer to stop the run week after week.

That is a coaching failure. Yes I've seen new coaches with new scheme not rolling out a pile of dung.
The other part is it is a new scheme and it takes time for the rooks as well as everybody else to learn to communicate and learn to play together with in this new scheme imo this is s part of it especially when they are starting 3 rookies who are learning to play at an NFL level just one guy who is not doing his job throws off the whole D.. if you listen to Sherm he is saying when they were playing they played together and trusted that each man will do there job this D isnt there yet.. it just takes time.

I heard a guy give a pretty good explanation of what might have been behind Diggs and Brooks getting after each other. Did Diggs bite on the play fake because we'd been giving up so much on the run, particularly to Taysom Hill, which resulted in a wide-open receiver then Brooks called him out on it?

I haven't gone back to look at the replay to see whose man that was, but it sure seems to me like a safety that comes off his man because he's lost so much confidence in the guys in front of him to make a play on a running quarterback would explain an argument like what we saw in the OP.
There was some feedback two weeks ago that too many guys were freelancing and not doing their job. Diggs wasn't home for the TD pass and he whiffed on Hill's long TD run to ice the game. Could be Diggs was being too aggressive and not acting as the safety net he's supposed to be in single high sets? If Diggs was up in Brooks' space on that play, I can see why Brooks would be hot.

Yup, I could see that happening, too. And I can see Diggs retaliating by accusing Brooks of not doing his job as we've been getting gashed on the edges by everyone and their dog. There's lots of blame to spread around on this defense.

You keep bring up the rookies who are not the problem. You sound like Seattle sports radio trying to save face for the team.

I don't listen to media... I might be wrong but it's NOT because I listen to media, it's just my take. I listen to Carrols PC and players and coaches, and I read Gregg Bell. you don't have to agree with me, that's fine... I appreciate your take on it, we will see who is right.

How many consecutive years does the defense get to start the year so embarrassingly bad before people start asking hard questions of the guy in charge?

Seriously? It is completely unreasonable to not put this, in large part, on Carroll.

This if four-in-a-row, now. This isn't new. They've been atrocious to start the season so much I've actually come to expect it.

I'm excited about the offense too. And the amazing draft that they put together this year.

But that shouldn't mean other repeated failures get glossed over. The dude makes $8 million a year, someone in the Seattle media needs to address this honestly.

According to KJ Wright, Woods is the only dlineman who fits the scheme. That's on the coaches for putting players in a position to fail.

Sure .... in a perfect world, but this team is in transition. You watch they will get it squared away.

Man, this defense is a mess! Diggs and Brooks are two of our more established veterans and are supposed to be leaders of our defense. Losing Jamal Adams had a bigger impact than just his contributions as a safety.
This.

Talk about denial. They've been on a downward trajectory for several years now. They might get it squared away after a few years of good drafting.

The defense must have taken my advice and smeared s*** all over their uniforms. Not only did Arizona's offense not want to block them, the smell had a psychological affect on their receivers' ability to focus on route running as well.

I think we have seen improvement today against AZ. definately something to build on. Hopefully this game they turned the corner and we will see some consistancy out of this D. Six sacks? I love it, especially on a mobile QB! Great effort from this D today!

I think we improved, too. However, we got several huge breaks. Kyler Murray is horrible throwing the ball. Even on a number of his completions, he was off target and didn't allow for any yards after the catch. I don't think we'll face another QB all season that played as poorly as he did.

The other thing is that Arizona might not have gone for it on 4th down when they were within very makeable FG range if they had their regular kicker. There was 10 points that the Cards left on the field due to not kicking the FG/missing an XP.

So while I saw improvement, I don't think we've turned the corner defensively.

Come on, no need for the Hawks only played well because the opponent sucks. No sugar coat needed, they have been BRUTAL on defense this year. They didn't get "huge breaks"
they played solid football.
However, credit where it's due. They gave up 3 POINTS on Defense. 3. Turning the corner? Of course not. But, they played a damn good game yesterday compared to what we saw in the first 5 weeks. We wanted improvement as the season progressed. Well, we saw it yesterday. Cryler and company was 1 for 5 on 4th downs. That's good defense.

This defense is still all over the place and saying any one thing is the problem is not true. They have forced 2 turnovers in every game except one this season, which speaks to the scheme guys are in place to make plays. In the Norton years, guys were never in place to pick off a pass.

The 2021 Seahawks forced 2 or more turnovers in 3 games. The 2022 Hawks have now forced 2 or more turnovers in 4 straight games and 5 out of the last 6.

Let's hope the trend continues and the run D gets shored up.

Thats football... shoulda ,woulda, coulda.

All i care about was that i saw several areas of improvement with in the D. This is something to build on, which is exactly needed to happen. Lots of areas to improve on both sides of the ball.

Got a big game against the chargers, lets see how they look vs a good football team. I think the Cardinals game was the turn around game hopefully we can see some consistancy on the areas of improvement from this week. Its a Prove it game.

Im not going to pretend like i know exactly how the Seahawks are going to turn their Defense around, because i don't.

Maybe they are going to bring insome more new players like Irvin, maybe the players they have are turning the corner and becoming better. I just know that its going to happen because thats what the Seahawks coaching staff does.

There is to much talent on the field and to much talent on the coaching staff for it not to happen. There is no doubt in my mind its just a matter of how soon. Im seeing improvement on D its just happening slowly, but its happening.... hopefully Irvin will make an impression in the locker room. Some times thats all it takes is the right vet presence to ignite that D.

Be patient Men of Seattle good things are coming.
Now this was a damn good prediction. Props
