the big decision is whether or not to keep hurtt at DC and fully invest in this scheme, or to discard it like trash. because it's looking like trash.
Agreed.

Isn't it a common thought that defenses are
Able gel quicker than offenses? I'm honestly asking.
If that's the case the Seahawks are close to
1/3 through the season. Scoring 32 points
On the road against a pretty good Saints team should be enough to win.

* Is it personnel ?
* Coaching?
* Is PC not letting the new DC run his d ?

I would start with considering the 3-4 swap to be a failed experiment. Get back to the old plan. While not the greatest, it couldn't possibly be worse than this.
atleast d. taylor and poona would be fits in the 4-3

i think they implemented this 3-4 with the thought in mind that jamal adams would be contributing

Woolen for sure. Nwosu too. Boye has had some flashes. Al Woods holds his own but is 35 years old. Otherwise I’m cool with basically everyone else having their jobs pushed or taken. The worst defense in the NFL by far.

I believe the defense is much better with Adams active. They would still need a lot of improvement at that point though.

84 points in 2 games is god awful.

It is very sad watching Poona's play fall off a cliff, this guy was so great as a 1 tech
Unfortunately our defensive line is coming up short right now. Without pressure on the QB it is difficult for our CBs also. Defense is our problem right now. Not sure we can fix that this year.

Firing the puppet is not the big decision. It's Pete's scheme. The only thing they've changed is a 3-4 alignment in base. Still 4-2 in Nickel, don't bring pressure, bland as hell. Softzone Cover 2 and 3 on the backend just like with Norton.

Pete's gotta go. Or hire a real DC like Fangio. No more "Yes" men that can take the fall for Pete. And Pete isn't going to agree to something like that, the defense is his baby. They are a packaged deal.

Mr Woods can stick around as long as he wants.
Wood has impressed me with whatever team he has been on. He is an eternal wonder like JPP.

The DL needs an overhaul.

Poona, Mone, and Jefferson are veteran players that shouldn't be on skates out there at this point. I expect better because old man Woods is outplaying them.

This defensive roster needs to be overhauled. Are there any players you keep? Right now I'd say the only ones worth keeping are Diggs, Woolen, Woods, and Maybe Uchenna. Trash the rest of them.
Woolen is a future Superstar.

Seahawks need a couple big, strong run-stoppers in the middle of that defensive line. If you can’t stop the run, it also ruins your pass defense eventually.

They have those in Mone and Woods.

They're problems are at DE, and LBer. With some guys playing out of position. Also need more impact at Edge.

Scheme is also trash, and easy to read, teams carve them up with the same plays over and over, and the Seahawks sideline looks dumbfounded.

Never should have hired the Miami Cheat in 2017. We have had two legit players develop under him in Clark and Reed and neither of them wanted to play for him. Him getting promoted should be the nail in Carroll's coffin, when that nail should have been hammered with him retaining Norton after his first season as DC.

Brooks is good, but he needs help. Barton is so-so. He does some good stuff, but he's guilty of not being Bobby or KJ, which makes him an easy whipping boy. Taylor has regressed. Chenna is good. Mafe will be good as he gets more reps; he shows flashes but is inconsistent.

Diggs is good. Ryan Neal is good. Bryant is improving as is Tariq. We need more consistent play from Jackson or whoever else plays that other CB spot.

The biggest issue is the D line and needing more help in the LB corps. Al Woods plays great but is getting older. Poona seems better suited to the 4-3 so far. Beyond that...meh.
Brooks has been awful this season, Barton has been even worse. They're not good or so-so this season, they've been absolute dumpster fires. Bar none this is the worse LB corp in the NFL -- let's not sugar coat things here.

It is worth mentioning that Brooks is out of position. He played ILB in college some, but it seemed he spent most of his time at OLB in a 4-3 system. He looks like he doesn't know where to lineup half of the time. Part of me wonders how much did Wagner contribute to his success last season. Wagner was extremely good at diagnosing plays and getting everyone lined up correctly.

As far as switching back to 4-3, I don't think that fixes our problems. I suspect that these issues run much deeper than just the 3-4 alignment.

I agree but think they should do it anyway.

It's an easier, less complicated scheme for our LBs. We are getting beat on the run more, bring guys up to the line, minimize the gaps that our LBs are responsible for.

#8, #27, #… that’s it. My money says replace Barton with an all state high school guy and it is better
