The longer they wait on a deal like this, the more it costs and the harder it is to negotiate. 🤷‍♂️

He's going to be one of the best in baseball, that's what he's going to do.
Also, not sure if you know this Q, but there is NO SALARY CAP in baseball. Sounds like complaining for the sake of complaining. This is an outstanding contract for both sides. PERIOD.

The mariners don’t really spend money on guys with long contracts, and the signing before Julio was I think Seagers 8 year deal. I would rather have them go for FA instead.

Just wow. Ok then. They literally just signed a guy who is going to be one of the best in baseball. And is a total class team player. And is 21. And WANTS to be in Seattle.
NOTHING is bad about this deal.

Best in baseball?

That is a big reach. He is the best rookie as of right now, and the youngest, but how can you say he will be the best in baseball.

How is it a reach? There are SEVERAL people, including FORMER PLAYERS, that think he could become one of the best players in the game. I'm not gonna' argue. I'm just surprised that anyone could NOT be stoked about the contract and this player being here for a very long time.
And I said GOING TO BE one of the best. Read what I said please. I did NOT say best in baseball. I said ONE OF the best. And I believe it.

Still yet one of the best in baseball. He won't be top 25.

You care to bet on that? He will absolutely be top 25 by the end of 2024. With several years of top notch play in front of him. He's 21 flippen years old man.
Has he done something to you personally? How is this impacting you? Just curious. People complain for YEARS that the M's never make a splash. Now they do, and it's still not good enough.
Keep your opinion, that's fine. But you are in the massive minority on this. This is literally the first time I've heard someone who seems like they just don't like Julio.

Very odd. But, do you.
Go M's!
Go Juuuuuulllliiiioooooooo!

I wouldn't get into a debate with the guy saying Julio isn't top 25. If you say that to anyone who knows baseball they laugh at you.

The signing is fine, it's more about can the front office build around him. Just because you have one of the best players signed to your team doesn't mean squat, just ask Mike Trout. Overall I thought it was a win for both Julio and the Mariners.

Yeah, signing Julio long term in no way says "they're done." There are still plenty of places to improve.

No he has not done anything to me personally. It doesnt impact me anything, all I wish was that the FA go after players during the FA market. Who was the last decent signing? Cano?

What I'm worried about is after rookie year, he will be on the scouting report.

Of course. But, you can only make one move at a time. Getting Castillo locked up next is a priority.
Once he's extended, Seattle has a decent 1-2-3- for the playoffs in the future.

It was smart to lock him up when they did.

And come on, this is a .500 team. And they are Mediocre. They absolutely CANNOT score runs at home. ONLY 6 yesterday.

If he'd stop trying to kill the ball every time he swings, his BA would start to go up.
They've all been pressing early this season, and it really is still early in the season. Well, maybe not JK, he's been dealing. :)
