Maybe it's just me but I think the fact that the Hawks spending on Bobo signals what their level of interest was in bringing back Walker. Reports I saw were that were that the Hawks would be willing to pay $12/year for Walker. Either Bobo is way more valuable than I thought or the org wasn't really that interested in bringing back Walker. Otherwise you just use the Bobo money and sign K9. I was pretty torn on whether we should sign Walker. I have his jersey and am a fan because he can break it on any play and make something out of nothing but I am not sure he can hold up all year if not in a time share. He really broke out once Charbs went down but the whole time I was telling my brother that he was playing for his next contract. Really wasn't sure if we should try and keep him or not.

Bobo was picked off the value menu. Still a good price. Jaguars didn't offer him that much more money than was originally tendered.

I think the Walker situation is more connected to the JSN extension as well as the coming Witherspoon extension. I hate losing K9, but it's difficult to say that you can get $45 million of value out of him over the next 3 years.

Bobo basically costs pocket change. I doubt they were related. Probably just had a price point for both, one had a market that exceeded theirs, the other didn't.
I know it's pocket change but they basically made the decision between signing Walker and not signing Bobo or letting him go and keeping Bobo...both of which would have had similar cap implications.

This ^^^

Once JS sets a price point, he doesn't break it, or at least not by much. He sets a value of a player and lives with it, even if the player leaves. Bobo actually costs less per year than his tender amount. ;)

Walker wanted his money sure, he wanted to be a bell cow back more and get the spotlight as a all the time starter, kinda like our boy Lynch. Walker just like many didn't see his shiortcomings, not a skill issue but a ability to take regular pounding oh and blocking .

I’m going to bet that it’s more that Walker just didn’t want to be here. I suspect he preferred to be the premier back on a team that wasn’t run first.

In terms of longevity, he is probably better off on a team like the Chiefs, where he is a compliment to the passing game, instead of used as a battering ram to open up the passing game.

Even if the Seahawks were willing to be in the ballpark of what the Chiefs offered, I get the sense that Walker would’ve turned them down.

Read somewhere, they never mentioned anything to him and that they never really were interested in bringing him back.

I think this is somewhat true. K9 was a punching bag most of last season. He turned it on at the end of the season and the playoffs. Smart teams don’t overpay. I don’t recall Malcolm Smith making All-Pro after he left Seattle with the Super Bowl MVP.

If Seattle pushes culture, max effort, etc… guys will step up and victories will roll.

K9 stepped up as he knew he was in a contract year. He also felt compelled to rep his brother Charbs. Lucky for us it worked out to perfection. But not for a single second do I think he was worth overpaying. You can find real RB talent in the draft. Like I’ve said before, this isn’t a QB or LT or CB we are talking about. Very serviceable RBs can be found in the middle rounds of the draft.

I can not wait for KC-K9 to face that #2 rated Denver run defense twice this season.

People tend to forget that more than one thing can be true.
It doesn’t always have to be either/or , black/white.

We kept BOBO on the cheap, and his locker room/ fan favorite is worth every penny, any production we get is icing on the cake.
